2010+ TRD Supercharger

Yes, I pretty much agree with you. I've seen them be very reliable on many platforms. 200k.. with no issues... But it's still not technically as reliable as stock, since there is just more to go wrong and more moving parts... and trying to convince people on this forum of anything being near Toyota reliability is typically a loosing battle. LOL. I was mainly trying to say it would not be for everyone and get the focus back on what it is vs all the whining...

I often wondered the same thing about reliability in adding the supercharger. I can report that my 03 v8 with TRD Supercharger is still running strong at 270k. I have owned this since new and it been very reliable. I had it on a 4 wheel dyno quite some time ago, but that test showed 7psi with a safe fuel ratio.
I am anxious to see what Mag is able to offer for our 5th gens and when that will be released.

Very nice. The same thing that TRD brought to the Summit years ago and to SEMA, but had a TRD logo on it back then.

What are the saying for power and price?

Check out the dyno chart a page back.

Those are solid numbers. Once I get some miles under my 2017 and make sure the bugs are all worked out, I could see that on the short list. That would be a huge increase in day to day driveability enjoyment.

that dyno is of gadget's setup, not the magnuson setup.

Here you guys go.
I was told easy reflash and install. It has its own drive belt. Heard it run, super quiet. Gonna get some more info later, heading to the trails now.

Thanks for the pictures... Looks great and very OEM.. Good pulley wrap..... very little space needed..

Would like to see the heat exchanger up front if possible... A little hard to see with the plastic cover on, but maybe a pic from the grill.

If Magna is going to run 6psi same as there 4.0L Tacoma kit how can we expect anymore that a 35hp increase. There advertised at 305hp and 335 ft/lbs tq?

IDK, Maybe because it is a different motor.

Expect 30-40% gains. Maybe even 50% gain in avg tq.... which is all I care about.

Boost and HP have no direct relation and are not comparable between engines. Actual Airflow is all that matters. I think the numbers from the stage 1 Whipple from URD should be a pretty good indication of what to expect at 5-6psi.

Also. I think that advertised HP is a mistake on their website. The dyno graph shows 291 rwhp. Which would be at least 340hp at the crank.

I agree here fully, nothing but a bit of a waiting game now. Mag wouldnt put as much time and effort into the build up of this if they only gain the same as the TRD Charger they did for a different engine!

is there a separate intercooler or radiator mounted in front of the cars existing radiator?

Yes, there's a heat exchanger in front of the OEM radiator for the internal water to air intercooler. Much more compact setup compared to an air to air IC.

Let me see if I can get some better pics this evening.

I would be all over this if it was still TRD.

Did they say anything about mileage?

What they told me is that highway mpg will be around the same, depending how fast you drive and how much drag your rig has. In town driving, you'll probably lose around 2 mpg, again, depending on how hard you press that skinny pedal after every stop light.

That's fairly close to what I've experienced with their superchargers in the past on other platforms but I'm going to guess that the average built up 5th gen that is as aerodynamic as a brick is going to lose a couple mpg on the highway and a little more than that in town. At least we'll have a little more power to work with though. Purely a guess on that part.

Also, price wise, the 100% complete SC kit will be around $5200. They haven't released an official price yet though.
