Also a big fan of those wheels. I would definitely consider them if the price point is right.

Yeah, I'd rather get the koenigs and have them weigh 21lb each if they are anything over the $900 price - which they will be. I think the other TRD wheels are 1200ish iirc (never really looked at them due to price).

If it's anything like the supercharger for the <2009 FJ, it'll end up costing between $3,500 and 4,000 and net about 60-75 more hp.

Just an off the cuff guess, but I would bet dollars to doughnuts that the performance would be along the lines of the first TRD 1GR blower.

The new Dual VVT GR engines in our trucks are a bit more efficient and produce a slightly more HP and torque than the first VVT GR engines. It sure would be nice to have the extra torque.

This is what I am figuring as well. That would put us in the 330-345HP range and the 340-355ft/lb torque range. That, my friends, would be bad ass.

A couple of things are striking me as odd:
1 - Odd that TRD would go to the trouble/expense of exhibiting a S/C'd FJ only to announce a one more year availability.
2 - Odd that URD had a (presumably) good running S/C'd 5th Gen TE a year ago, and hasn't made a peep about it since December.
I mean, the engines are near-identical, aren't they? Just sayin'.

Ya'll'll have to forgive my ignorance on this, but will the SC require a higher octane gas? I seem to recall my brother's SC Nissan truck requiring premium gas.

I am wondering if TRD has the actual product finished and ready to go, but is just waiting for CARB (Cali. Air Research Board) approval. All of their chargers are 50 state emission legal. Sometimes the approval process can take up to a year!
As for URD's charger..... good question.

It mostly has to do with the tune, but most manufacturers tune for Cali craptane 91. If available 93 (most in the south have) I would get run as piece of mind and a safety net. Certainly don't want pre-detonation.
When I talked to TRD they said the new SC just passed the 100 durability test. the difference in 4.0 engines is enough for them to rework how the supercharger works. The new one has a tighter helix screw and makes more power with less noise. The price point will be more then the current FJ supercharger, but less than the tundra SC.

Spoke with TRD senior engineer ,Ted Moncure, who is on the TRD 4.0 dual vvt-i super charger project this evening. On the dyno they are getting 340hp/345ft/lb torque and it's running 8 psi boost.
Unfortunately ,it won't be available for another year. He said it takes that long to get it carb certified in all 50 states, tooled up to make the parts and lastly to satisfy mother Toyota in Japan for warranty purposes. They hinted that cost would be about $4200 at the raffle.
They just raffled one off at the Summit tonight and the guy that won will get the first one next summer. It wasn't me....:rockthrow:
