2010+ TRD Supercharger

Agree. Of all the elements comprising towing capacity, engine power is fairly far down the list. Higher on the list are braking, tire load rating, engine and trans cooling, weight distribution, shock & spring ratings, yada yada.

IMO, adding a S/C would have zero effect on what I chose to tow.

Disagree. Nothing personal.....IMO a SC could benefit this trucks ability to hold torque converter lockup and speed on hills while towing.

Agree with you on zero effect while stopping. Tranny seems to be the limiting factor on acceleration, again only my opinion.

I've never had a SC vehicle before, just a turbodiesel. Is the SC really noticeable as far as the whine goes (inside the cab)? I can't wait for this to happen!

Depends on the vehicle and the setup. My friend used to own a Grand Prix GXP and in stock trim, you couldn't really hear much of anything. In my old 3rd gen, however, you could distinctly hear it, even under partial throttle and with the factory pulley on it. Under WOT, my wife equated it to an RC car and with the URD 2.2 pulley, it was even better. I LOVED the sound and the feel of it. However, the cabin of my 5th gen is way quieter than the 3rd was

Keep in mind that the new superchargers have the 4 vaned TVS rotors...And they're VERY quiet. Unlike a Whipple or the older Maggies.

I have one on my GTO (TVS1900) and it's barely noticeable from inside at wide open throttle, can't hear it at all just cruising around.

i too am seriously interested in this new 4vane S/C in the 5th gen. i have been waiting to S/C my 12 limited for some time now. kinda getting antzy.

Just got off the phone with TRD. "No application" "No ETA"

We've already established in the past that the peeps driving the desk and answering the phones at TRD don't know sheet.
We knew when the TRD wheels for our 5th gens were out before they did and denied they made any.

As stated before,Ted Moncure is the TRD lead engineer in charge of the project. Let's test your social networking skills ,as he's out there ,to see if you can find the real ETA. I'm still saving up my cash and it's a little early to bug them as he already stated it would be this summer.

You and me both, I mean I heard its a possibility but even a peep about it would be nice. I love my T4R a lot, but I just want extreme power! For my purposes, covering it in lights and bully bars, lifting it or getting giant tires does absolutely nothing for me. I have what IMO is the best looking SUV out there, now I want some bite to go with the bark.

BTW Ted has a Twitter Bajated, so I am gonna tweet him about. Seems he keeps himself really busy moaning about gun control and stuff, but I got something more important to moan about! :P

///AIRDAM Dude, seriously? Maybe you need a hobby, or a girlfriend, or a puppy or something. :wink2:

harper7 is on top of this. It'll happen - he'll have one in and written up before you know it. I'd put money on it.

meh.... i gotta shemale, gotta kid, gotta dog, and an 80 hour a week job. but i like toys and i like going fast. having a fat slow pig does not make me happy. having something that'll get on down the road when you ask it to makes my sticker thicker. everything i have is fast, except my bulldozer i cant seem to make it get more MPH. everything else i have been pretty good at making go faster.

I NEEDZ SCHOOOPERCHARGER

Then there's an upgrade right now that will put the power to the ground and smoke your 285's off. It's called regearing and the ECGS has them waiting for you.:flame: That or contact Gadget at URD who already has a functioning SC for a 5TH Gen.

As far as your sig comment.......

"looking for automatic running boards to replace the stock junk. Toyota shows them in their listings as factory option, but no part number to buy from the dealer"

Toyota doesn't sell it in a kit form as it's an option ,not an accessory, therefore there's not one "part number" . They can sell sell you all the parts, and there are alot and would be very expensive. The key part you can't change is the wiring harness which is specific to what option it was ordered with.Toyota doesn't include wires, sensors and connectors that are not needed and they are not there in your Limited if it was not ordered with that option. The needed wires are in a 2 inch bundle of wires(aka wiring harness) and cannot be just added unless you go custom and make your own custom harness just for the auto running boards. It can be done but it won't be easy or cheap.

Try AMP research or somebody that makes"auto running board kits".

thanks for all the info, although i am new, i think i keep getting mistaken for a typical newB. gearing my machine to pull larger tires is a great idea, for offroading or towing. i want 19+mph and the ability to annhialate the tires at will, and be able to put on m slicks and do some nasty stuff at the drag strip. which the taller OE gears would seem to be the most logical choice for. i have re-geared other past vehicles, and this one is not necessarily one that i would consider a candidate. purely on-road drivability, asthetics, and warranty is the only things that concern me.

i knew it was only available at time of order, which i had assumed would have meant a wiring harness pig-tail included which my vehicle probably does not have. not a big deal i am somewhat a connoisseur of wiring and electronics. wiring them up would be a piece of cake. AMP did not appear to make a set, i google'd auto running boards and searched two different companies with no luck yet. maybe there is a set out there i just have not found them. toyota only offering something at time of order, with no aftermarket shoots me in the foot cause i sure wanted a set.

the reason i want a set of autos is because my OE running boards dont stick out far enough. i cant actually use them, when i step up in the vehicle my foot feels like its under the rocker and seems awkward to have to pull my foot out from under the rocker to try and get in the vehicle. also when exiting the vehicle, there is only about 2" of step sticking out past the rocker molding. when you take a step and try and hit the step, your foot slips off the step rather easily. i have already fallen out of this thing a few times. trying to put my little girl up in her car seat in the back seat, with very little running board sticking out, i have slipped off the running board numerous times. i have slipped enough, and rubbed my shoes against the painted rocker panel so much that i am scuffing the paint. (eyesore) and YES i did get under the vehicle, and move the running board out as far as it will move. there are slotted holes in the brackets that allow the running board to move in and out about 7/8". i moved them out as far as they'll go. they seem more of a "pretty" than a functional side step. if i bought the auto running boards i could easily make the step come out however far i wanted. their setup is easy to adjust the height and reach and its auto so its out of the way while driving or jumping the occasional curb

I feel your pain on the running boards though, my foot slips all the damn time and I always have dirty shoes. My excitement about my T4R is waning. I love the car, because its so solid and its great and I got used to driving it finally but this aftermarket sucks and TRD is not supporting it enough.
