2011 Limited X-REAS and KDSS?

I have a 2011 LE and the shocks were starting to leak. I took it to my local independent and they initially told me the whole X-Reas would need to be replaced. Kind of what I expected. Apparently they called Toyota to get the exact part numbers for the quote and Toyota informed them that the 4Runner had X-REAS and KDSS.

Does this make sense? Was KDSS even an option in combination with the X-REAS?

Here is a snap of the RF wheel area...It does have the actuators midpoint on the frame rails.

FYI, that pic is a bit small, but no KDSS—your sway bar is in the standard non KDSS location, attached to spindle.

KDSS is available on the trail/ TRD Off Road modles. xreas is only on the Limited. Unless you are in love with the xreas, you might be better off with a cheaper alternative like bilstein 5100's on all 4 corners or something more substantial.

I also have a 2011 Limited. You have X-REAS but NOT KDSS.

Your best bet is to take it to a dealer and get a detailed estimate for repair which will include the required part numbers.

Depending on what actually needs to be fixed it may be very expensive and then you should seriously consider ripping it out and replacing it with a traditional system.

I did the switch to the 5100's and would say i sacrificed flater cornering for more ground clearance and much better poor surface/ off road performance. I have the shocks they had 28K on them when i pulled them if your interested, However I do recommend the switch. The 5100's allow a larger tire as well. Good luck!

I ditched XREAS for bilsteins (toytec ultimate) years ago and have had zero regrets. You may notice some reduced cornering control at speed, but the average ride is equal if not better.

Replacing XREAS is a waste of money IMO.
