2011 Running Boards

Hello everyone. We are the proud new owners of a 2011 4Runner Limited, Silver...we are very happy with our purchase, but we are looking for a solution to the running boards. We got some running booards from the dealer, but when I got them home, I realized the factory running boards do not install without removing the lower trim panel below the door.
Are there any running boards that install using holes in the frame or allow for keeping the trim pieces intact? Thanks for the help.

it sounds like the dealer gave you the trail running board which requires sr5 or limited to remove the bottem rocker panel to install. the regular running board should install without removing anything. if u cant return it , let me I have the Sr5 running board and will like to trade if ur local.

You shouldn't need to pull anything off of the truck. I'm assuming the running boards are Toyota. Unscrew the bolts from below the truck. I believe there were 3 sets of 2 bolts per side. 3 brackets per side. Take the bolts off, the "side skirts" or whatever they are called will stay on, they won't fall off. Put the brackets up and use the same holes. New Bolts should have come with the boards, note that the new bolts are longer. Put them in the same holes. Be careful not to strip the bolts, it has happened to a lot of people on here including me. Once everything is on then put the boards on.

There is no way these running board brackets reach with the bottom panel installed. The bottom of the trim panel hits the top of the running board, and the brackets are about 4 inches from the bolt holes... I guess I will return these to the dealer and get the right ones. Is there a separate running board for Limited models?

Maybe they sold you the trail model. The sr5 uses the same board as the limited. Honestly the Toyota running boards are pretty worthless. There isn't a lot of space for your feet. Look up "Dee Zee" for running boards. Lots of pics on this forum of them. Also you should take a pic of the boards you have so we can tell you which ones you got.

Have recently bought a 2011 4R Lmtd,... the running boards, p/n PT925-89100, will fit only the Limited & SR5 models as Nashman69G indicated. I'm selling mine, and refraining from running boards altogether. Rock rails might be nice, but haven't seen any that fit as nice as the FJC OEMs.
Good luck!

Toyota running boards are cosmetic and non-functional. Just had Westin Platinum Series 4" tubes placed on my new 2011 4runner...looks and functions great

I have the new-car takeoffs for sale at $295. I'm in the Sacramento, CA area, and if you're too far away to pick them up, I'm afraid the shipping would be prohibitive? (my ad is currently on T4R)

Thanks!

Can you please PM me pics and details.

Thanks in advance!
