2011 SR5 4Runner Max Towing Capacity

Need some help...looking to buy a 25 or 29 ft travel trailer...towing capacity for my vehicle is 5000lbs, but wondering if you could exceed that w/o causing any damage? Thanks.

I personally would not have the tail wag the dog with that size trailer. Every time I design something that could be overloaded I put some type of limit on it simply because:
1. Stuff fails at certain limits be it threads, metal, hoses, etc
2. No matter what someone will think those limits do not apply to them (hint)

Have you really looked at the receiver on the 4Runner? 5K is a lot of weight static. Just think about wind, bumps, braking etc. Good luck.

A trailer over 20' is most likely too long for the short wheelbased 4R. Tail would wag the dog as said above. After my experiences towing with my 11 4R a bit, I would keep the max weight of trailer at 4000 lbs or LESS. And that's with better than OEM tires, aftermarket shocks, rear airbags. (all of those are a must-have for towing with this vehicle). Possibly want stiffer springs all around too.

I had a 2007 tundra previously and towed my 10k pound 23' toyhauler and a smaller 18' toyhauler.
