Next week I'm going to buy a new 2011 SR5 4x4. What do you recommend as replacement for the stock tires and wheels? The SR5 comes with P265/70 R17 tires on 17 x 7.0 alloy wheels. A wider tire with the same diameter would be nice, but I can't figure out what would fit. As much as possible, I would like to avoid modifying or lifting the suspension.
The main goal of upgrading is improved performance in the sandy deserts of Southern California. Not getting stuck in the sand would be a big advantage. At the same time, the 4Runner must work as a second family car on the pavement. The new tires can't be too noisy.
