First- I would like to thank all those that have already posted reports previously. Not to waste anyone's time, I have spent the last few weeks searching the site trying gather as much info as possible without asking already posted questions/ wasting anyone's time. I definitely have limited the question I need to ask.

At the end of the month my new company vehicle is being delivered- 2011 SR5. I’m currently in a 06 Pathfinder and have had other SUV's in which I did mild mods to. I have chosen the 2011 SR5 for several reasons but mostly because it is still a true off road vehicle from the factory unlike all of the cross-over vehicles now available. I also feel loyal to my brothers as they both at the plant in Cambridge, Ontario.

So here is my circumstance/ thoughts-

My profession is Construction/ Project Manager for Land Development. I spend allot of time running the road but I do regularly have site visits where it is still raw land corn fields to full servicing underway to finished roads/ parks etc. I would consider this moderate off roading in mud/ clay.

My hobbies include hunting and fishing. Whether it is the boat or the Atvs, I do a considerable amount of towing while playing. To get to the hunt camp the last 10km/ 5m is old corduroy roads which are flooded several times a year. I would consider this mild/ moderate off roading in rough gravel roads/ shield rock/ bogs swamps. The atvs do most of the dirty, dirty work.

I don’t need a true lift kit as I'm not doing hard core off roading, nor do I want to put that into a company vehicle. I do like the looks/ thoughts of the "leveling" kits. Toytec top mount seems to be very popular- Blistein 5100 is more than I need. With the 2/ 3" front leveling kit and the anticipated rear sag from towing the boat or atv trailer, I don't want the SR5 to sit nose proud. Should I be considering the front 2/3" and rear 1.5"? or a rear bag system- if even available for the 4runner? Any suggestions/ comments- manufacture such as cornfed??? I want to also upsize the tires. I don’t want the rubbing as I have experienced on the Pathfinder. I want the look to be aggressive but not overdone. When looking from the rear I want to eliminate the "egg" shape of the overall vehicle. I notice allot of the guys have went to 17x9 wheels. Will the 9 and oversized tires help eliminate the egg shape? What about the offset of the wheel?

All, in a round about way- Any suggestion on complete combo packages for the 2011 SR5- leveling kit- front/ rear/ size, wheel and tire/ brand and size?

Thanks in advance and look forward to your thoughts.

I'm thinking in Canada-speak, that's YY/MM/DD, eh?

@OP - sounds like a TE would suit you better.

Why would you recommend a TE? The significant benefits of the TE are the locking diff, crawl control, KDSS, and different body work. I don't see a need for any of those based on his descriptions of mild off-roading.

Ah, that's funny. I dont know if the yy/mm/dd is a Canadian thing or not. That's how we file all of or digital files at work so that we can quickly reference the most current version. The SR5 is to arrive the end of this month so my time is somewhat limited.

The TE is nice with extra options but just over the 40K corp cap and we are not able to top it up. I think American prices are quite a bit cheaper. Here the SR5 base is 36K. The one and only SR5 upgrade puts the vehicle at 41K and the TE is 43K. Limited w NAV is sittin in the low 50K's.

Thanks

I off road in the Arizona desert but I grew up in Ohio on a farm so I understand the mud thing. I think the big limiting factor is the tires. Stock tires in mud suck. A trail edition with a locker would help and even all terrains are not that great. A true mud tire is great in mud but some suck the rest of the time on the highway. On my Jeep wrangler I run the new BFG mud terrains KM2. They are very quiet for a mud tire and I would recomend it for this application. It handles as good as the BFG all terrains on my 4runner and is not much noisier. If you start sinking in the mud a little extra ground clearance will really help. I would say get the sr5 and see if it does what you want, if not modify as needed. Sorry about my 1st post about 11/01/30. I could not resist. Also the atrac on all 4runner works great but I have never tried mine in mud as we do not have any in the desert.
