2011 SR5 or 2008 Sport????

Hi All,

I am looking to make a purchase and could use some advice from those that would know better than I would. I have found a certified 2008 sport with almost every option available for $27000. It is a really nice vehicle and only has 30,000 miles.

The problem is that if I throw in a about $4,000 more I can get a nicely equipped 2011 SR5 model. Any advice?

I bought my 07 V8 SE new for 26500. That is an awful price. Drive both - its your preference

I see that you posted in the 4th generation section. I think that both 4th and 5th generation should chime in. So, I will move it and leave a re-direction in the 4th, so maybe you will get more responses.

For me, I would go with a new one for $4,000, but my guess is that the $27,000 price is not set in stone. I know your not getting as much on a new one, but lets face it, your getting a new 4Runner. So, if it is truely $4,000, go for a new one, but after pricing a new one and getting the real price of the used one, my guess is, it may be double that price.

I'm sure the 5th gen will be getting stacked with more options in years to come. Bringing back the simple things we liked on the later 4th gens. I'm not buying a 5th gen any time soon. _If_ I did buy one, it would be a loaded 2010. I'm not taking the price jump on a 2011 when there's little changed except brake software from a 2010.
My personal favorite is the 2008 year 4th gens. Wasn't a fan of the relocated rear window switch. Among other center console changes in 2009. I'm telling you what I like, not what you should do. Its my opinion, and your choice. If I could get my hands on a gray 08 v8 sport or limited I would be set.
Have you driven both 4runners? That's the biggest step you can make in a decision. Oh and drop that price on the 08.
