2011 trail to 2016 limited

Upstate NY does have those issues for sure sometimes. While I could easily get by with part time 4wd (and have), I would seriously question anyone who thinks the awd isn't and/or wouldn't be useful in western new York winters (imo).

Will be in the similar situation - live in SEPA and was looking at a Trail or a limited, i have an S4 now so i think i'll want the limited with the full time.

Try parallel parking in the snow in anything other than a Limited. Friggin nightmare. Or doing a tight turn on snow into your garage or a drive through or anything. The curse words will come flying out of your mouth so fast and furious. The winter I owned my 14 SR5 my wife and I called it a POS so many times. Sorry if Im upsetting anyone but it really sucked.

You are spot on. Straight 4wd is great for off roading, last time i checked that is what it was designed for, AWD on the other hand was designed for roads including dirt ones and improved driving in all weather conditions.

Anything is possible with enough money. I think Harper7 put a Trail face on a limited, this was pre-refresh.

A few of us have done it but Harper was without a doubt the trail blazer. Each trim level is a compromise but doing the conversion offers the best of all worlds.

Fulltime awd would be useful in western NY...but part-time 4wd of the trail works just fine as well, you just have to show a little discretion on when and where you use it. I still favor the part-time 4wd because it seems better suited to a lot of the trails/tracks that I find myself exploring during back country trips. That said, the full time awd of the limited definitely makes sense for someone who is more focused on everyday practicality...it's all a matter of priorities.

Sounds like a limited is right up your alley. I would do it if I were you.

After buying it, I would swap out the sway bar bushings to poly (for improved road feel/ responsiveness over the oem rubber ones).
