I wonder if anyone else is experiencing the same. I have a new 2013 4runner ltd 5 seater. The second row has a different design to the 2012 and didn't know this when I purchased the truck. The second row seat wobbles or is loose. I have taken it to the dealership and they were surprised that the seating had changed. When you sit on the second row then is moves. The dealership believe it has been designed like that which I find hard to accept. Does anyone else have the same issue with a 2013 runner loose second row seat?

I've noticed in my 2013 Trail that the larger portion of the 2nd row seatback will wobble and move. It's very noticeable when someone is sitting back there as it makes a lot of noise upon acceleration and braking.

Mine does this! It's a 2012 though. Very disappointing when the first passengers I ever had in the back seat immediately said that they were wobbling around. It has to do with the reclining feature I think. If you put the seats down, you will be able to see where the seat back anchors to the side of the vehicle. Its like a u shaped metal bar. Mine has some definite play in it. I can move it about 3\4 of an inch back and fourth. I have not talked to my dealer about it yet, but will be on my next trip. I'm interested to see if anyone else has had this problem fixed.

I noticed this after folding the seat for the first time on my 2013. The seat back has some play to it, like it is not fully locked in place. No big deal but I still slam it home a few times just to be sure I'm not doing something wrong. Need to double check the manual...but I've tried it at least 100 times many different ways and it still jiggles a bit when you pull on the seat back. I don't think it started until after I lowered it the first time.

sorry went to check mine just now, nothing out of the ordinary. it does wiggle slightly but not in a way that would be noticeable when sitting in it.

I have a 2012 LTD and noticed the back right seat rattling somewhat when I drive. Not all the time but noticeable at other times. I had the dealer check it at my 10K and 20K services and they said that since the back seats were designed to "recline" that's the way it is...nothing to tighten up. So basically just live with it, I was told. If you get a different answer from your service advisor, please post so I can have mine checked again.
I spoke with Toyota Canada today and I have a case open. They said that they changed the seat design. This is the same with all of the 4runners of 2013. I'm to go back to the dealer to have them have another look at it to see if they can do anything. I don't think there should be any play in the fixtures as then you are off road it will simply move about.

When I was shopping for my 2013 I noticed this on every single new 4Runner at every dealership I went to. That said, the TE I ended up with has dealer-installed leather and the seat doesn't move as much, but I think it's the tighter leather upholstery thats keeping it in place.. it still moves if you grab and shake it.
I'm always lowering mine to carry stuff. I thought the play in it was normal.
I'll wait to see if anyone finds out differently. I'm not particullary fond of the dealer I bought mine from, and anticipate an aggravating experience if I brought it in. So, I'll live with it, until I find out differently. Then find another dealer to take it to. Which I need to do for the 10K free service, unless I decide to do it myself.

i have a 2013 4runner and have the same problem--dealer just says that they compared it with another one and its the same--its very un-nerving for someone riding in that seat--not a good design

I just bought a 2015 and I'm experiencing the same issue (I think, anyways).

2013 LTD...same issue here. I had it for a little more than a year before it started to make an issue about 2 weeks ago. Mine makes more of a squeaking noise when running over speed bumps and such. Definitely going to give my local dealer a call to see if this can be addressed. Similarly, I'm getting a noise from the sunroof when I raise it up. They're not huge deals but kind of annoying and I know they shouldn't be there.

Just resurrecting this thread. Seems like people have had some success using electrical tape to address the seat rattle but I'm wondering if anyone has found a solution for the moonroof. I'm experiencing a similar noise on my 14 LTD when it's up/open. What little I've found on the forums hasn't really helped...
