2013 Base GX

I am interested in purchasing a 2013 GX. It is the base model, 2 owner with 151k miles. The previous owners took great care of it. New brakes all around, newer tires and maintenance records for every 5k. Asking price is $23,500. In this crazy market does this price seem fair?

Sure seems ridiculous to me. But what do I know. We thought about upgrading to a LC/LX or maybe a new GX. Just testing the waters with the dealers. We were offered $30K on trade in for a new LX. Our GX460 is a 2017 with 25k on the clock, and new tires. Minor parking lot scrape on the left rear that needs some touch up paint, but not dented. We declined.

You were definitely low balled. I ran a KBB trade value on yours. Base model, no options, Good condition. $35000-$38000 is the average trade in value. Sadly KBB says $23,500 is close to the average retail for the 2013 I am looking at.

Yes for sure, but I was wanting a windfall as well, so I wasn't insulted. I wanted less than $20k difference on the new one out the door. They could have ours today, and we would wait until the new one came off the boat. Not even close. So we kept the old one. I have almost never bought new cars. Buy used drive it until the wheels fall off. But at our age, why not splurge a bit. Seems like buying new makes sense at the moment with used cars being so expensive.
Especially if you have to pay the Toyota tax. I'm not sure why anyone would pay that,I've owned several toyotas and not found them to be any better than most others. but again what do I know.

Just looking at what I'm paying for license plate tags. Makes me think I can put that money to better use elsewhere than a new car.
