2013 FJ Summit - 5th Gen T4R

With registration opening up tomorrow I thought we could start a planning thread for the Summit. If everyone wanted to share their ideas on dates, places they are staying, trails they're riding and times, that way we arrive in force.

I figure this will also give us one central thread for questions and Summit Mods. I will put together a spread sheet eventually so we have all the info in one place.

I am thinking about going this year. The big dilemma is do I take the stock 5th gen or my lifted/locked/geared/supercharged 1st gen Tacoma.

If anyones interested in hitting up Moab before, I have a group of guys from Missouri and Illinois, mostly FJ's but we're going to utah on the 13th and then going to summit. I'll make a thread later.

Finally secured and sent in the deposit today on a whole house for the whole week(July 14th-21st) on Main Street .It's right on the corner from the main event(Best Western is about 100 yds away) and have some extra rooms for anybody that wants to go and needs a nice place to stay for fairly cheap. It's basically like 5 separate apt's that sleep 4 each with full kitchens,32 inch flat screen TV's and cable ,Wifi ,ect. .There's also a grill out back with a driveway and a garage to work on the truck and hopefully have the TRD guys help install a SC.

The owner gave me a great deal renting the whole house because I stayed there last year and booking early so it's about half what the hotels charge. Here's the details on the house and it's children/pet friendly just no smoking inside. I've been on most of the trails in and around Ouray and will also help and guide anybody,even if you've never been before as I'm usually trail riding all day long and into the night. They are not hard trails by any means but the sights are unforgettable.

BTW ...when I talked to Carl this afternoon over in Ouray he said they have had a ton of snow this winter with about 3 ft on the ground in town now and another big storm heading that way. There should be snow on the mountain tops this summer for sure ,unlike last years with that mild winter.

Registered this morning and just picked some tougher trails for myself than last year. If anyone has the same feelings but want to do a different time let me know, I'm open to changing times. One of those PG's I'll probably cancel.Last year I didn't go on even one organized trail with the FJ's and a few of us grouped and just did our own thing most days. Didn't do Poughkeepsie though and looking forward to it this year as it's supposedly the hardest one there.

I'll run Black Bear,Imogene,Mineral Creek ,Corkscrew and many other trail runs several times during the week and anybody is welcome.They are fun at night too and the moon will be out as it's full the 22nd.

There were about 10 or so 5ths and a few 4ths were there last year and we got along fine.A few of the sponsors 5ths were there(Metaltech) and the organizers(Tim)TE. There were even a few non Toyotas like a VW bus and Nissan xTerra.lol

btw....5ths gens are built on the LC J150 platform now and not the older 120.

I ran all the trails with the FJ's (since it was my newbie offroad runs in the 4Runner) and had a blast. MetalTech was a trail leader one day in their 5th gen. One of my runs had a Series 100 LC in it and one a Tundra.

It's a very family friendly event and everyone I met was very nice. Lots of people enjoying themselves and helping others with advice, tools, etc as needed and sharing great stories.

I actually became pretty good friends with one of the FJ guys and I'll be stopping by his place this year in Philly on my way to get my suspension work done by Ducmonsta.

If I could take the time off on top of the other trips I want to take each year, I'd be there every year.
