Well, like last year the Summit doesn't fit my schedule. I'll be in Ouray 7/28 - 8/5 on my usual annual trek. I've been going to Ouray for over 10 years - if anyone wants or needs any trail information or info on other area activities I can give you the details. I've run every trail between Lake City, Durango, Telluride and Ridgeway numerous times.
Harper 7, if you run Poughkipsie uphill you will need a winch at the wall. I ran it last year and it was the only way to get up.

Trails currently selected but not committed to are below. Would rather be in the group with the guys. So hook me up and let me know the consensus. I am pretty well protected so I am up for anything.
My Current Trail Selection
Thursday Trail Run: California Pass and Corkscrew Gulch at 08:00 AM
Friday Trail Run: Imogene Pass to Ophir Pass at 07:30 AM
Saturday Trail Run: Poughkeepsie Gulch at 07:00 AM
P.S. Sleeping at Spangler House B&B, because I am too accustomed to sleeping in a bed at night. I will however, consider doing the same event as last year and cruise the Medano for a stop gap on the way out....

I may not be able to run much with the group. As a novice driver with a moderately equipped vehicle, what are your suggestions for trails? My wife and I are very excited about the trip - it will be our first time off road in Colorado. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Clay - You'll be fine on any trail except Poughkeepsie and Black Bear. You're going to have a lot of fun!

Thanks for the heads up. I've got quite a bit of stuff ordered to have installed by then. BajaRack and Demello Sliders coming from Jacque at TRDPARTS4U, IBS Dual Batter System, ARB Compressor and 2.5 gallon tank, SPOD Source fuse/relay block with Carlings, Cobra 75, etc.
This is my first run at quite a bit of this so we will see how it goes. I've got the OME suspension and tires done. Gotta get going on the rest, or hire it done. I hope to let BaerTrax Off Road here in Dallas help me with most of the electrical. We shall see!

I would suggest investing in a CB as it makes the trails and the road trip a little more fun too. As we get closer I will let you know when I plan on leaving if you would like to caravan. Let me or anyone else here know if you need any help or advice at all.

Running engineers pass on the 18 into alpine loop for a little spelunking in old town then into Silverton before heading back to Ouray.
19th Opher pass into mountain village for a day of family fun, then on to Imogene pass back to Ouray
Been there 5 out of the last six years more than willing to share any info.

Hello John,
I have visited with you once before. You helped me decide on my lift, referred me to Toyota of Dallas, TRDParts4U, and Jacque. I would very much like to convoy up there. I think that would be a lot of fun! As mentioned above, I have many mods to do before then - Cobra 75 being one of them. I'm going with the K400 hatch mount and Wilson fiberglass antenna. I think I want the main radio control box in the center console somewhere, but cannot figure out exactly where/how to do it. I wish I was better at this stuff, but I will probably have to hire much of it done.
Anyway, the convoy sounds great. I need to work out if my wife and I are camping or going to try to find a place to stay...

I am trying to convince my wife to go this year....it is a stretch, but I have been trying for years to get her to go to CO with me. This is my second Summit, but I am trying to guilt her into going this year. If you need help getting that set in your console, I can help you out one weekend. I have done it a couple of times. Once for me and once for another guy. If you need ANYTHING, feel free to give me a holler. If you dont have my number anymore, let me know and I will PM it over.

I'm going to see Josh at BaerTrax on Monday to discuss them doing the dual battery (IBS) install and ARB Compressor/Tank. I'm going to ask if they can do the 6 bank Carling Rockers switches and SPOD Source Fuse/Relay kit. I'll keep you posted.

You could always just "happen to be driving down the trail" when we leave at 9. Or be there at 7 to practice getting up the wall and be our spotter when we arrive.

I think we need to invite them to join us at the Summit, plus they make fun toys. They just had it parked outside my office downtown, figured I had to share.
