Working on posting vids - have a bunch of them, including the Black Bear run with Mr. Harper. Since I'm new to the GoPro I haven't figured out how to post them - they're huge files.

Just got home from two week trip yesterday, including the Summit of course. Will work on uploading pictures soon - have over a thousand to go through. Nice to meet you guys!
 
Here's a video of myself, [MENTION=42717]Jonesey[/MENTION]y, and [MENTION=68380]AZrunner11[/MENTION] descending Black Bear Pass. It runs for about 45 minutes, but it gives you a pretty good idea of the types of heights, widths, and trails you're dealing with on Black Bear. I mounted the camera on the top of my Gobi ladder, so it's a rear view, but given its position you can interpret some of the unnerving off-camber stuff during some of the ledge passes. The mythological "stairs" start at around 12 minutes or so.

If you watch through the switchbacks (a few minutes after the stairs), you can see why driving a 6,000lb, long wheelbase vehicle is a bit stomach churning at times. I had the advantage of a nose-mounted camera, so I was better off than both [MENTION=51030]joneseyyy[/MENTION] and [MENTION=68380]AZrunner11[/MENTION].

Haha I wasn't going that fast! It's easy to forget you've got people behind you when you're trying to focus on not falling off the side of a mountain! I think Joneseyyy was being more courteous than me and waiting for AZRunner to be able to watch his lines because AZRunner had never driven the trail before (he was a passenger with Joneseyyy last year).
 
Add some clowns and a dentist to that trail and all of my greatest fears would be realized in one trip. :shocked:

Decided to leave the trailer home and just take a tent next month.

Take the trailer! I took mine over Imogene, the highest peak, and I had zero issues whatsoever. There are plenty of trails you can take the trailer on that are not nearly as risky as Black Bear and would allow you to test it out on some fairly technical terrain (Engineer Pass and Mineral Creek, for example). What are the dates of your trip again?
