To Lexus credit, it's some neat tech in it. But overall, a very unappealing package.

The outcome of an incest love child, when an IS and ES mates and then goes under the knife for some Audi and BMW touches.

In front, IS headlights with Audi LEDs and a deformed version of Audi's big mouth. Rear ES corner lights and Audi trunk light. BMW dash with Infiniti's clock.

No V8, how sad if this is their mid level luxury performance sedan. But this is no surprise since the outgoing GS460 makes 342hp and doesn't have the same power as the LS460.

Lexus has lost their appeal to me, I wouldn't really consider any of their models other than a LS or LX. The rest of the line is boring and hideous.

No V8??!! Really? BMW, Audi, Mercedes, etc. all have V8s, including Hyundai! I am sure that a V8 will come out after intro...i sure hope so!

Overall, i like this redesign because i thought that the previous gen shape was not good...kinda chubby and soft.

During each generations' respective era and run, personally, I think the first gen GS had some of the best styling.

The second gen in some ways look like a copy cat of the E-class, but Lexus says the quad front headlights come the SC. The second gen when introduced had appeal, I liked it and more importantly wanted one. But there are parts of the 2nd gen's styling that didn't flow or fit. There was this black trim piece on the C-pillar to make the side windows flow.

The 3rd gen took a while to get use to, but its overall design wasn't very exciting. The refresh and updates made the lines even worst on the front end.

Might take some time for the 4th gen to grow on me, but it needs Lexus needs to make their new generation cars exciting.

Lexus will face some stiff competition for this new GS. The new 5-series is so much better looking. Without a V8, the GS really only competes with the G37 in my book and it falls short with 306 HP.

I like it. With the exception of the current LX and GX, Lexus always has had decent designs. The only thing I don't like is the BMW esque interior. The current gen's interior looks better to me.

I like the new aggressive look. I was looking at the previous gen to replace my wife's E350 but I decided to get another E350 instead of GS. For the previous gen, the design from rear doors to the taillight bother me. I couldn't tell what it was but I just hate it. May the the combination of the "curve" line with the taillights.

The taillights look like new BMW 5/7 series. The aggressive grill looks great. I HATE the Audi led head light. No V8? I will give it a good look in 4 yrs when I give my son the 4runner. Hopefully, V8 will be available in 4 yrs.

My understanding is that the hybrid will be announced later this year. We might see a V6 performance hybrid instead of a V8. It could also be that they are readying a new V8 as the 4.6L from the current version dates back to 2007. Maybe the next IS-F V8 will be used in the top trim GS. The 5.0L from the IS-F is relatively old. Basically, I wouldn't rule out a V8 being in the pipeline. It just might not have been 100% ready when they showed the GS350... which is the one that will sell in volume anyway.

I guess that a hybrid/V6 is the new V8 for the GS...but even here, the Infinity M has 3 powertrains (V6, V8, and top-of-the-line V6/Hybrid) vs. Lexus 2.

:iagree: with the exception of the IS-F, the GS-F and CT200h F, F just stands for fulgy body kit for all show no go. Even with the IS-F and its factory performance boost, it still falls behind the performance models it competes with.

Lexus needs the mojo they had back in 1998 when they released the 2nd gen GS. Currently, Lexus is really mush and boring.

F sport is no different than BMW's M sport, Audi's S-Line, and Mercedes AMG packages. They are all suspension and body packages. I agree that Lexus should make a GS-F to compete with the M5, E63, RS6, etc, but the fact is, those vehicles sell in pretty low numbers and the F Sport packages give Lexus buyers a way to make their car look a little sportier from the factory. If my wife gets her way and buys a CT200h, I'm going to insist on the F Sport package because it makes it handle a little better and feel a little more youthful. When I nearly bought a 328i sport wagon a few years back, I had the M sport package ticked on the build sheet. What is wrong with adding a little flair without dropping $15k for a crazy huge engine that far exceeds what you can do on the street? The GS350 is a sub 6 sec 0-60 car already.

The package is cheap ($1k) and it adds a black headliner, darker wheels, different dampers, sharper looking hatch spoiler, and different grille inserts. It looks nicer and handles better. Why not?

Actually, to be honest, the reason i got the Prius V/Five was not for the sportier stuff...it was for the LED headlights and radar stuff because i drive the highway a lot, and sometimes at night. I would have been perfectly happy in the IV with the solar panels...IF LED headlights and radar stuff were avail as option. I did not find out about the "unique" suspension on the Five until AFTER i bought the car. I must admit that i do like the 17" rims over the crappy hub-cap 15" rims on the other Prius models.

What options are you getting on the CT200h? For me, the CT200h is already as sporty as i want it to be...i rather spend $1k on upgrades, such as Premium pkg, audio pkg, LED pkg, or PCS/radar. LED headlights on my Prius is one of my favorite things...really bright and good spread. Radar cruise is amazing on the highway...and is like a 3rd eye watching out for you in case you are distracted. On my Prius V/Five, i can feel the bumps already...so, i don't know...a sportier CT200h suspension may be harsh for your wife.

Just my opinion.

If we do the CT, we'll get premium audio, F-sport, Trident wheels, and possibly LED headlights. I'm not a huge fan of the nav that Lexus is putting on the CT and it is pretty costly. Radar cruise and such isn't all that important to me. I'm more enticed by the Entune on the Prius Five (and v). Honestly, that would get my vote. Gets the LED headlights, Entune, more space, better efficiency, and a more airy interior. My wife currently drives a MINI Cooper S w/ a 6MT and LSD. :biggrin2: When we test drove the CT, it felt a lot more compliant than her little kidney punching machine.

The F Sport SE is a hot little number, though.

Quentin, without taking the thread too off topic, is that a Lexus sponsored ride and drive event? They haven't had one around here since 2008.

I understand the packaging of the F line. But IMO if it's going to rock the F insignia it should be more than just a body kit and suspension upgrades. The IS-F has a higher power output engine than the IS350. However, GS-F and CT200h F only has the power output as the non-F variants. Audi, BMW and MB doesn't put the S/RS, M or AMG tags on the cars with just the body kit upgrade. Lexus should take the approach Toyota did with the Prius and add some thing like the Performance Plus. Maybe Lexus should've kept "L-Tuned" for just the body kit and suspension packages, reserving F for models like the IS-F.
