Quentin, without taking the thread too off topic, is that a Lexus sponsored ride and drive event? They haven't had one around here since 2008.

I understand the packaging of the F line. But IMO if it's going to rock the F insignia it should be more than just a body kit and suspension upgrades. The IS-F has a higher power output engine than the IS350. However, GS-F and CT200h F only has the power output as the non-F variants. Audi, BMW and MB doesn't put the S/RS, M or AMG tags on the cars with just the body kit upgrade. Lexus should take the approach Toyota did with the Prius and add some thing like the Performance Plus. Maybe Lexus should've kept "L-Tuned" for just the body kit and suspension packages, reserving F for models like the IS-F.

I'm not sure. This was taken by a guy on clublexus. He has one of the first F-sport Special Editions in the US... and an IS-F. Lucky guy.

Zee Germans don't have a badge on the trunklid, but the seats, steering wheels, and wheels are marked with the M, S-line, and AMG badges, IIRC.

The F-sport trunklid badge below the model badge isn't bad, but the F badge on the fenders does send mixed signals. That is where the F badges appear on the LFA and IS-F. BTW, this is not a GS-F. It is a GS350 F-sport. Calling it a GS-F without a big V8 (or V10) would certainly destroy the "F" model equity.

So, in order to get a nicer factory suspension, snugger seats, and nicer wheels on their 3 series, you think everyone should have to buy an M3? Does it burn you up that someone can buy a plebeian A5 and get the S-line appearance package? Judging by the red S in your signature, you want everyone to know you don't just have an A5.

No I'm talking about the people who buy the plastic stuff after they already have the car. i've seen more than one Cayenne V6 with Turbo badging, and bodykit. I've seen more than one 3 series de-badged but with the M plastic. Those people.

Ah, my mistake calling the F-sport a GS-F. That's exactly my point in the previous posts. If and when the GS-F comes out, Lexus shouldn't make GS-F body kit pieces available on the regular model readily available from factory, a different body kit is fine. IMO, there shouldn't be a cheap wolf in sheep's clothing available with a regular model appearing like it's high performance counterpart.

But at any rate, there needs to be a V8 in the GS. The GS line should be GS350, GS460, GS hybrid and a GS-F with the IS-F 5.0 at the very least. Without a V8 option, the GS, IMO is a joke. Much like how I don't consider Acura as a serious luxury marque to the lack of a V8 and RWD cars.

This is laughable and why I'm against a factory package that offers everything of the performance variant sans the engine. The wannabe's half @$$ed attempts are even better, when they put the badge on, missing the other bits and pieces of the true car. Also got to love the red and blue background Honda emblems that appear on the DX trim models pretending they're a Type-R of some kind.

There is a big difference between the IS F-sport and the IS-F. I'm sure the same will be on the GS.

Why would it be the same on the GS - we just discussed that there was not an actual high performance variant of it. Same old mediocre drive train and some fancy plastic.

I was saying if/when they come out with a GS-F, it will be visually differentiated from the GS350 F-sport just like the IS-F is visually differentiated from the IS-X50 F-sport. Uneek and I were both speculating if a GS-F came out.

They have the components. The 5.0L from the IS-F or the new 4.6L from the GX would work just dandy. I'm sure they have a super/turbocharged variant of the GS as a fun test car just as Toyota has a 5.7L 4Runner, I'm convinced!

meh. You described it pretty well...I'm not overly impressed. Looks like the rest of the Lexus lineup now. The GS was pretty dated and needed to be updated. I had my Lexus in for service yesterday on a warranty claim and the loaner they gave me was the new Hybrid CT. Many of the new 2013 GS styling cues look like they came right out of the CT. Overall, I think Lexus is slowing evolving and finding their way. They were always stodgy conservative land yachts and now they're becoming more appealing.

To Lexus credit, it's some neat tech in it. But overall, a very unappealing package.

The outcome of an incest love child, when an IS and ES mates and then goes under the knife for some Audi and BMW touches.

In front, IS headlights with Audi LEDs and a deformed version of Audi's big mouth. Rear ES corner lights and Audi trunk light. BMW dash with Infiniti's clock.

No V8, how sad if this is their mid level luxury performance sedan. But this is no surprise since the outgoing GS460 makes 342hp and doesn't have the same power as the LS460.

Lexus has lost their appeal to me, I wouldn't really consider any of their models other than a LS or LX. The rest of the line is boring and hideous.

If Lexus was serious about "getting its mojo" back, they would stuff the IS-F motor in the next gen GS. I'm sure hopping up the horsepower is possible and I'm pretty sure the ISF's engine would fit, they are yellow bellied over at Lexus, which is why this isn't going to happen. The rumor of the LFA powerplant in the GS is more than likely NOT to happen. I can dream and we can all discuss...... I'm a Lexus fan, but my gawd, they need to do something. My point is: Lexus has options (viable ones) to make a hot rod GS.

Without a V8, the GS's competitor is the Acura RL. It's not a 5-series, E-class, A6, Infiniti M, etc. challenger.
