Hi all. Its been forever since I posted in this forum. I've been in the 4Runner game since 2001 and still have the same 97 Limited. It can't be killed!
As of late I have been looking for a 2014-2016 Limited and have a list of mods that are must haves...
My first mod is the headlights. I find them extremely boring and from what I read/seen, the performance of the projector is rather lack-luster. So what does a normal person do about this?? Buy a headlight for a truck that I don't own and take it apart of course!

I have several LED "Audi style" options available and am experimenting with configuration. I really want to avoid the "rice" look at all costs. I will also be putting in a crystal clear projector lens with HID kit. I hope I can get some nice color and cut-off without a full retrofit.
One thing that I haven't seen done is deleting the orange running light lens in the headlight housing. I have heard numerous complaints about the ugly orange markers but have not seen a solution. With the lens removed, there are 4 small mounting holes and 1 large hole that allows the bulbs light to pass through. Soooo I am currently in the process of filling all the holes, sanding, priming and re-painting piano black. I will then be mounting clear, flush-mount LED's into the bezel so you wont see any orange unless the LED's are actually on. Gonna be a fun project, just hope the end result is worth it.
****And just a little heads up about separating the headlights****. I can honestly say that if I was close the edge of a building, I would have jumped to end the misery of trying to open up the OEM lights. They are sealed with PERMASEAL and were definitely NOT designed to be separated ever again. It was painstaking and completely insane (No I didn't "Oracle" the lights apart hehe). Unlike the OEM, the aftermarket headlights are sealed with Butyl which is easily heated in the the oven and softened to the workable consistency. This is what I will be resealing with.
I will keep y'all updated as I go.
