2014 Eco Gauge Removal

i have confirmed that turning off via Techstream the "Eco Drive Indicator Zone" will actually remove the gauge completely.

is there a reason for doing this, or is it just to get rid of that dumb light?

Not the light, but the bar gauge on the centre screen that makes the font size of the digital speed smaller. Without the eco monitor the readout is larger. And the monitor is as useless as the light.

well its under the customize settings in techstream, so i wouldnt see why they couldnt, if you are specific on your description and your really nice about it

you can turn that off without Techstream. While parked, hit the mode button until you get to the settings screen. Find ECO Mode and turn that bad boy off

Although I use the Torque app to read engine load, the eco gauge can be used as a guide to keep the torque converter locked at highway speeds. Maxing it out the gauge before it goes to the flashing bar is ~90% load. TC unlocks around 92-94%.

Can't you just turn the ECO display to "off" using the "Display" button on the steering wheel? I haven't tried it yet, but, I noticed there is an "On--Off" option while cycling through the options.

Nope. The on/off to which you refer is only for the leafy light. You would think it would turn off both, but it's only for the green light. The bar gauge has to be shut off via Nodak's method.

Re-confirm. Yesterday was at the dealer's for the 5K miles checkup, told them to hook up Techstream and switch that thing off -- and they did.

Who in the world thought it was a good idea to have a big constantly jerking bar in the middle of the instrument cluster that tries to teach you not to touch the gas pedal?

Or just hit 88 MPH and both the bar and light stay off. I'd like to say we were going 88, just like the Doc's DeLorean, but it might of been 87. Whatever, but not 80 like I remember reading in the manual.

You're lucky. The mode button on my '16 only allows me to turn off the leafy light -- not the dancing eco bar.
