I lost my only key to my 2014 4runner. I called the Toyota dealership and they told me I have to bring my car in (hard to do without a key). I called a locksmith and they want $500.00 for the key. Any help is greatly appreciated

If you lost all the keys the computer has to be reseeded. Most dealerships will charge 2 hours labor plus the cost of the key. Piece of advice, get 2 new keys as the programming charge will be the same and if you only get one and lose that you start all over.

Sorry to hear...

but thats pretty much what Toyota charges for all of their key replacements.

i have a coworker, his wife lost one the keys to their Rav4...and they charged him a similar amount for a new key.

you would think they had all kinds of Matrix type magic going on inside those keys.

A locksmith copied my key with programming for thirty bucks or so and that key is well hidden on my t4r, plus I have the factory duplicate at home.

Buy OEM keys from a third party, buy techstream vci able, install techstream and DIY.

I've never done it but i've read that it is quite easy.

in the future, ace hardware does oem replacements for around $100, but you need the car there so they can program the remote.
