2014. no RSCA off button

no RSCA button on my 2014 trail..

toyota canada was only able to confirm it was gone and could not provide a reason for it.

I just looked at the ebrochure for the 2014 4Runner and on page 21 in the Safety and Convenience section, 3rd item down:

Driver and front passenger TAP (Thorax, Abdomen, Pelvis) front seat-mounted side airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbagsand all-row (third-row airbags on all models) Roll-sensing Side Curtain Airbags (RSCA)

Listed as standard equipment on all models.

Many didn't. I had a good friend killed in HS, driver hit a tree and my friend went through the windshield. Not even seatbelts.

FWIW- Forget airbags, my first car had separate lap/shoulder belts (so I didn't wear either). Nobody did back then, right? Kinda stupid, looking back.
 
This missing (RSCA) cutoff switch is interesting, Do you think they incorporated it in something else like the locker switch or ?

Maybe there's something in manual about it, like different button is used for turning off RSCA, or Trail now has sensors which won't deploy airbags on low speed or if vehicle has less than 45 deg inclination for example. There's gotta be something to prevent side airbags deploying on a trail especially on TE.

Yeah, it's likely that they've done some work to the roll sensor (angle and accelleration limits) in an attempt to negate the need to manually disable it.

Or they've possibly tied the shutoff to another button or mode, such as shifting in to 4Lo or activating an e-locker or something, however I don't think this would be very smart as you can still roll and have side impact injury when in 4Lo.

Maybe there is a way to shut it off through the info screen in the dash. I know in my F-150 almost all of the driver aids are adjusted this way. Hopefully a 2014 owner can chime in and settle this.

Did you check the owner's manual? In the index it should be listed as "Roll sensing of curtain shield airbags off switch" or under the SRS airbags section in the manual.

Shouldn't be a big deal either way. I always forget to turn mine off and I've been pretty close to rollover angles without them inflating.

No mention of it that I can find in mine, I thoroughly skimmed through the thing cover to cover when I first got it... and just ran through all the SRS/airbaggy sections again.
