Post up Pictures of your BBQ Grilling Area

So I just redid my patio near downtown SD and thought this would be a good idea for a thread.

Here are a few pics of my old vs new setup + the OP test.

Charcoal Weber Gold (just bought it) :hungry:

Good thread!

This winter my box/Yankee gutters froze up and before a trip I wanted to clear the weight strain of the ice in them so I attempted to remove some, me hanging out the third floor window. Well I got a few good pieces out then a piece about 4-5' by 1' and about 3" thick, easily 50+ lb slipped out of my hands and literally destroyed my grill hood, like a car hit it. Hilarious/sad.

Craigslisted a sweet two year old Jenn Air natural gas 3 burner last week for $240 in next to new condition from a rich neighborhood, $960 new. Looking forward to getting the line run and never running out of propane again. Will post soon.

For some reason I just got a glimpse of good ol Clark Griswald and the hanging onto his gutters scene....lol gotta love that movie!

Awesome idea OP I also wouldn't mind a picture from your deck looking out at your view,....:cry2: man I miss San Diego so much!! You can take the boy out of San Diego, but you can't take San Diego out of the boys heart.

The trees kind of obscure the view. We live in Mission Hills, right by the 5, basically a few blocks south of Old Town. I can see Point Loma, the I5, the bay and the airport. From this side of the apartment complex we can't see downtown.

Yes, I know that area quite well, actually my grandparents live not to far away. Right off mission village Dr. By the "Murph" ahh sorry Qualcomm, lol old habits die hard. There is this Mexican restaurant in old town that serves up the best fried ice cream, sorry but I can't remember the name.

Sorry to side track you thread,

What do you guys think about fruit and veggies?

Is the recent push to buy organic stemming from the grocers to fear us into purchasing the more expensive produce, or are the chemicals and pesticides used in contemporary produce truly endangering our health. I guess, what would be healthier, eating the right amount of mainstream produce or eating less organic veggies considering the price difference, let's say eating on a budget?

My Ma taught me this little saying when buying produce, it has to do with the stickers placed on them "9 is Devine, 4 is a bore" 9 being organic while 4 being regular. Which these numbers would be the first in a series on the sticker.

So I had to look it up that restaurant called casa Guadalajara, man I loved the deep fried ice cream. Personally I was always a Tio Leo fan myself but I've heard they kinda gotten bad lately.

Oh and I don't have a picture but I'm a Green Mtn. Smoker fan

I feel dumb, my last post about the produce was meant for MtnT4r's thread, the being healthier thread, lol sorry Brian

I would post up mine, but it's still covered in pollen and not "presentable" at the moment. I've got 2 projects ahead of cleaning off the back deck. I'll use this as a placeholder.

This thread is awesome! I'm not that experienced at BBq'ing but Im gonna set up a nice little spot at my house.

Any suggestions for a first charcoal bbq under $125:bravo::bravo:

Wait what!!!.....California still allows the burning of charcoal....lol! :pound:

Weber, you can't go wrong, although I have no idea how much they are nowadays. You can BBQ perfectly fine with more economical grills however it's been my experience they don't hold up well at all! Little thins like a leg comes loose, or the lid gets warped and never completes a seal anymore, or the tabs that hold the grating (cooking suface) fail and all is lost at that point. Spend a little more and get something that you look forward to using, I've recently moved up to a smoker grill like the traegers however my weber charcoal BBQ is the only way to cook a steak in my opinion. My weber has been around for 8 years now and still is as solid as the day I bought it.

It's the t4r in bbq's

Brian, that might be the cleanest grill I have ever laid eyes on outside of a retail store. If you saw mine you would cry. 2 years of rowdy roommates who never clean the grease trap(or any other part for that matter), and who never wanted to pay to refill the propane has taken its toll.
The good news: soon no roommates so I can actually keep it in a presentable condition.
The better news: I bought a Steak Stone a couple months ago and I must say its one of the best purchases I've made so far this year. You can heat the stone up to 600ish, it sears in the juices and flavor, and you pretty much cant overcook your free range grass fed slice of delectable goodness.

So until greener pastures in the next month or so, I present to you all my personal indoor lava stone grilling station:

:bravo: dude .... it was brand new! That was my first op test!

Haha i seem to have a problem with not reading sentences from start to finish. Not my best quality. On the other hand, that is a darn nice grill. I need to start looking into charcoal.

Meh - I'll keep my cast iron, thanks. I dunno how much your Steak Stone cost you, but my black iron skillets were about $20 each and I bet my steak tastes better than yours. :)

No pictures ATM, not until I clean off the back deck myself. Love to BBQ at high temps, but smoking is what I've really gotten into the past few years. I considered the debate of charcoal vs. pellet smoker, and ended up buying a Weber Smokey Mountain and I really like it. Just wish I had the convenience factor of a pellet grill sometimes.

It was definitely more than my cast iron, but the fun is eating right off the hot rock, every bite cooked to perfection :hungry:

I know you are just the slightest bit curious. A few Asian restaurants offer hot rock cooking right at your table. Definitely worth a try. I tried to find a decent video, but youtube seems to be full of people completely overcooking and ruining their steaks.
