I'm at work so i cant sneak away to read the last few pages of this thread..but can our fogs make up for the side cut offs of the headlights.

I live in the city, so hobbo's and meth addicts are as common as concrete..where i need to keep them in view at intersections, alleyways, etc.

So Dot Tom, your right! Had a chance to align them in a garage at work today. Actually had them pretty darn close last night.
In my defense I only drove them about 1/2 hour last night and was tired from a long day.
Tonight just got back from a two hour drive and the verdict is that they are great to drive with. Not so much when turning on a low or non lit street. There is no light to see with and is a couple cases was darn right unsafe to make turns. The fog lights fill that in but I don't want to drive with them on all the time.
I'm hoping xenon Depot takes them back as I just don't want them. I suppose I could aim them down but then that would take away from what's up ahead.
In the picture look at both sides close to the hood where the light curves out. I think morimoto missed the mark and needed an extra led to light up that dead zone.
Sorry XD just telling it how I see it. They look awesome in the day, match the Morimoto fogs real good, just not safe (in my opinion) to drive around corners with little to no light.

I'm sure you'll be able to find a buyer on here if XD doesn't want them. Plenty of folks who care more about taking photos of their trucks than actually driving them. :yo:

Ugh. Mine came in yesterday and now I am debating whether to install them or not. I currently have the XD HID's for low beams and their LED's for the high beams/ DRL's. No issue with them whatsoever, and I think I actually have them aimed a bit low.

I would install them, It does not take long and super easy install. perhaps mine and dot toms are off abit. if that's the case I would ask for a replacement set. Since they won't be out for 6-8 weeks I'm tossing in the oems tomorrow

Just curious, but is there a way to adjust side to side? IIRC, some retrofits have/had this option(been too long since I've helped my friends do theirs') and it helps a butt load getting that "perfect cut-off".

Yes but It throw the alignment way off and would likey leave a dark hole straight and center. Also would point right into oncoming drivers

Here is the proper way for aligning headlamps manually. It is a bit fiddly and time consuming but will yield the best results.

You'll need:

Painter's tape
25ft tape measure
Magic marker
Heavy, dense blanket (to block off light from headlight that you are not aiming)
Flat, dark parking lot (at least 50 foot) abutting a vertical wall that you can stick painter's tape on. Your driveway and garage door won't work.

The car needs to be perfectly perpendicular to the vertical wall and the headlights need to be exactly 25ft away from the wall.

Figure two hours to set up and adjust.

I'd be very interested in pictures of properly aimed headlamps - still set up from the aiming and having puctures taken from the driver's seat.

Bonus points for putting a barstool up against the wall and taking pictures of the lights from that position - that should simulate what an oncoming driver would see from different viewpoints. These pictures should be taken from two positions - dead center of car and then moving the stool about 12 over (so about 9ft from the driver's side to simulate an oncoming car in the adjacent lane) and taking another picture.

It would also be interesting to do this test with stock bulbs (and the HIDs)

Did that except don't have an optical beam setter. I used a laser level to validate all the tape on the wall for an exact height and center of each piece, not eyeballing it. then at 25' the vehicle was validated of being true square with the wall / markings to eliminate driver error of thinking it's straight and validated headlight height, center marks comparing the wall to vehicle. Used cardboard and tape to isolate each headlight

Didn't do that, and not going to. The pictures you saw were taken by aiming as described.

So a guy in another runner forum installed his today and same thing, sharp cutoff just like ours.
I guess Morimoto tested no where except a computer model and Dot Tom didn't know because his bumper is in the way.
For now mine are packed away waiting to hear back from Xenon. Hid's are back in and lighting is much better.
Hope they make a second version to fix this issue and I'll buy it again!

I would still be interested in a revised set. With install, test driving, trying precise alignment, then pulling them I've have about 5 hours into it so next time I'll wait till others test them. Unless I can be the test mule for free:biggrin2:

I was going to install them today, but by the time I would get them in and aligned, its going to be dark and I can't just swap them back out if they aren't as good as the HID's. Maybe I should just install them and run them and see what happens. I just don't want to be constantly taking off the front bumper

They do look good though. Hard to photograph led with a cheap cell phone, the led is not burnt out they just don't photograph well.

Have any side profile shots of your ride? The grey TRD rims look nice with white.
