2014 taco struts

So I've got a chance to purchase 2014 taco shocks from a guy.

What I want to know is will they fit. With out swapping out the top hat. Or if I can even do that.

Has anyone tried this already, if so how did it work out.

The struts are too long.

I know someone who has done it. I also know that his rig is a ticking time bomb of all of the mods he has done to it. its not a good idea because it over extends your cv axles, ball joints, and tie rods.

He used 2014 fj struts with limiting straps and I'm 2wd so cv's won't matter but my ball joints and tie rods yes. I've already had ball joint failure, it blows. Will they not fit just because they are to long or because they wont line up with the holes

They just aren't the right shocks, get the tundra 5100s you will be happy.

Too long in terms of both extension and compression. The shock is going to bottom out before you hit the bumpstops and that's going to cause the shock to collapse.

Sure you could add limit straps and longer bumpstops but why not just purchase the correct shocks and not have to do any of that?

Well becuase the taco shocks were 100 bucks for a 4. Lol

Don't waste your money. The rears won't even bolt on anyway.

It has to do with the shock, not the spring. The shock is too long and can't compress enough, likewise it's too long and will over droop.
