2015 SR5 (P) Vehicle Skid Control/ Center Lock Differential

I have a 2002 SR5 4WD that has all the technical capability that I have ever needed. Not climbing or mudding but I do get into some sand while traveling 2-tracks in northern MI and the UP. I have on several occasions used the Center Lock Differential to deactivate the VSC which has kept me out of trouble. I'm thinking that I may upgrade to a new T4R this fall and want to go with a new SR5(P) but I can't find any reference in the literature to the SR5 having this feature. Looks like the only way to get a locking differential is to move to a Trail which has more technical capability than I need and cost about $5k more.

Question: do the new SR5's have a Center Locking Differential or the ability to de-activate the vehicle skid control? Am I over thinking this?

The new SR5's have a part-time 4WD system with a traditional transfer case. So when you want to use 4WD, you have to engage it. The torque split is fixed front and rear, acting just like a locked center diff. I am able to turn off both traction control and VSC when stopped by holding down the traction control button for 3+ seconds.

As far as a locking rear diff, I do not have one in my SR5 and I believe you have to upgrade to the trail to get it.

the sr5s dont have a center locking diff anymore. it has the two stage transfer case for its 4wd system. it does come with the ATRAC system, which is an electronic system which works as an electronic locker of the front and rear axles. How that would work in sand, i do not know, but many on the forums who have used it say it works very well.

the trail has a rear axle locking diff, along with the same two stage transfer case of the sr5. they also have the selecteable crawl control and terrain management system to assist in a drivers 4x4 needs.

the Limited comes with full time 4wd and the center diff that you are looking for, which can be locked similarly to your current t4r, both in 4hi and 4lo.

for disabling the VSC on the SR5, you simply push the button on the top consol and hold it for 3 seconds and it disables the system.

Overthinking it, The 10+ SR5 which has no center differential acts just like your SR5 w/ the center deferential locked when in 4x4. You can disable VSC as well.

For driving in sand your best bet is airing down your tires

Thanks all. I'm not a car guy but I love my 02 SR5. Just want to make sure I'm not losing out on technical capabilities IF things work out and I move to a 2015. Hell, I only have 248k on my 02 so what the hell am I thinking about upgrading?
