2015 SR5 third row seat question

Anyone with a 2015 and a third row seat build a platform so when the 2nd row is down, the rear storage area is one big flat surface.

I hate that with the second row down the rear area is not even.

I have a 15 w/3rd row and mine are even.... post a picture so I can see what you are talking about? are you sliding the 2nd row all the way back before lowering the backrests?
 
In my 2011 there is a slight incline from the seat back. But when I sleep in the back I just fold a camping foam pad in half and put a thermarest on it then my bag and it's perfect. What are you looking to do back there?
 
Same thing, sleep back there when camping.

With the second rear seat folded down there is about a 2in height difference to the 3rd row rear seats folded flat.

Sorry I don't know how to post a pic. I will try though.

I wanted it level. That bump will bother me trying to sleep.
 
I know exactly what you mean, it isn't very comfy to sleep even with a pad laid out with the incline. For a temporary solution try mine, since I use my third row here and there this works very well. Normal length foam pad, folded in half and thermarest air pad laid full length on top then sleeping bag. I've done this multiple times and slept great. I'm 5'11" so it's just long enough.

What about buying a cheap mattress pad and cutting to fit the cargo area?

I don't remember seeing anyone that built a really low profile option which didn't raise the height above the seats then, doesn't mean it's not out there if you search around.

Maybe you need a roof top tent though! Haha

I was thinking of just cutting some plywood to fit the rear then building some supports underneath? I want something that I can remove when I don't need it. I was hoping someone had a solution already.
 
I used to whine about it, but no longer.....

I now have a removable, pull-out tray in my back, with an ARB fridge.

Two options, but seems like a lot of work and headroom is already bad the way I do it.
 
oh the 2nd row incline I thought you meant where the fold was there was a differnce in height. I actually like the slight incline for sleeping. I have a coleman SUV air mattress that fits perfectly! I bought 3rd row cause I have kid but when they are older I plan on gutting the frame and make it below floor storage on one side and a fixed platform for an ARB fridge on the other
 
Thanks everyone. Those were the ideas I needed. I never thought of the threaded pipe to use as supports. It will allow me to level off the platform and also let me take it apart for storage and transport. I want to keep it as low as possible so I don't lose any more headroom.

This is what I'm here to find out too. Is there a 5th gen (whatever year) trim line/model/2 or 3 seat/with or without sliding rack thing - that will give me a full flat cargo space?

I have it in my 97 Blazer and its my favorite thing. Seats are down all the time and when I slide stuff in from the back I don't have to push something uphill after I've had to try to lift the front of the board or tripod up over the hump. I can sleep, its wonderful and none of the you tube video's cover it and the dealers seem clueless. There are different years, different rows of seats - I'm going nuts trying to figure it out. Honda Pilot has it (not the 2016 but 2009 through 2015 and its a beautiful thing) but no 4wd. I'm just a fat old lady but I do like to scare myself driving the back truck roads in the UP of Michigan once in awhile.

I have just the 2nd rows of seats and no cargo tray in my T4R Trail Edition. I removed the 2nd row seats for a camping trip over Labor Day weekend and haven't put them back in yet. It took 2 hours the first time I removed them but I think it will be easier the more often I do it.

Removing the 2nd row of seats really increases the cargo storage. The floor drops twice for a total drop of about 6 inches. The floor drops below where the seats go and again down to the rear floor behind the front seats. I put water jugs on the rear floor area and the ice cooler down where the seats normally sit with room for camp storage boxes beside the big cooler. I'm considering making a flat cargo bed of plywood to fit directly on the carpeted rear cargo area and elevated on legs over where the floor drops. It would provide a rugged floor that protects the vehicle carpeting and provide a flat area for sleeping.

But see,if you are trying to shove something long in the back, you have to run it up that hingey hump by lifting it at the long end. I find that extremely irritating as I take my scope/tripod in and out the back a lot. It looks like there might be a gap between the right seat and console when its down?
Basically just not good cuz I carry a lot of maps, books, binos, scope and crap back there. I want a flat space.
So...I'm going to post a thread and ask everybody to chime in with specs. Then I'll have to see whether I want to go building a custom floor on whatever is flatest or give up 4wd and get a Pilot

I get that some people don't really car but to me this is and 4wd are the top of my list. I could care less about trim, seat heaters, music/speakers, dvds, engine details, whatever.

Yea, I don't really want a well or hole. What year is your T4R and did you have 3rd row seats and/or a sliding tray?
 
ST1FLER's picture is what I am talking about. That little hump makes it uncomfortable to lay flat back there. When I get some time I'm going to try and build something to level it out for camping etc.
