2015 Trail - anomalies with Climate Controls

2015 Trail with Entune GPS etc

At times, when I get back in my car expecting the air conditioning to start up as it was running when I got out, it does nothing and no lights come on. I can press on the AC button and it does nothing. I have to turn the fan control all the way off and then back to a setting to get it to turn back on.

It seems to happen once every 5-6 times I get back in the car.

Just curious if anyone else has had any issues with Climate controls in non-limited 5th Gen T4Rs. Didn't find any service bulletin about it and haven't been able to recreate the anomaly for the dealer.

I’ve had it happen two or three times in over two years of ownership. Definitely not that often.

I don’t have an answer for ya, but the same thing happens to me when I hit a medium or large size bump when off-road. Entune reboots too. Lame!

Here is something I’ve noticed:

The fan speed knob is “indexed” to a bunch of different fan speeds with dentents (places where the knob will normally stop), however it’s possible to turn the knob to a point where it comes to rest between index points. The behavior seems to be that the fan speed remains on the last indexed point until it hits a new index, but if you leave the knob hanging between two indexes, shut off the vehicles and turn it back on, since the fan speed knob is not sitting on an index, the A/C system thinks it’s off. If you just turn it to he next index, it comes on and everything is good.

Not a great design...

Not sure if I explained that clearly, but maybe hats what you are seeing?

Interesting. I do turn the fan knob to get it to work again so that theory holds up. I will check that the next time it happens. Thanks

Confirmed you are exactly right about this. I put it in a notch between settings and turned off the car and replicated the issue. So that ends that.

Not sure why I seem to be leaving it in an in between state so often, maybe I nudge it after unplugging phone or some other repetitive behavior, but glad that is solved.
