2016 4runner suspension in Gen 3 ????

I found a deal on complete take out 2016 struts with springs (assembled) and rear springs out of the same 2016. Has anyone tried to install them into a gen3? If so, what was the outcome? Thanks in advance, J

Rear springs are the only possible thing that could fit, the struts from the front are way too long due to the little extension they add to the bottom of it, actually, the shocks in the rear may fit, I've seen 4th gen aftermarket stuff in the rear on a 3rd gen.

So, they are too long. So if installed the front will be lifted. I wonder how much?

You wont get much lift out of the rear springs. maybe 1.5". The front struts are 110% no go but you "could" use the springs. The rear shocks will not fit properly either. In all honestly I would pass on it unless its free or nearly free.


do a little research on bilstein shocks, and landcruiser springs. these items can be had for very reasonable prices with known trusted and true results.

You have some serious reading/research to do on this site, enjoy. P.S. There isn't a question that hasn't been asked "AT LEAST" once already in regards to suspension stuff. Check out the stickies, that will get you up to speed

You'll damage other suspension components. It won't work.

Based on this I just want to confirm that you're aware that shocks don't add ride height

My brother has a 3rd Gen and gave me his upgraded springs/ struts for the front and the springs and extended bump stops for the back. Not sure of the brand. My rig is 5th Gen, 2016... Not quite sure if there going to work... Have to pull the vehicle in the shop and take a look. I have only had the 5th Gen for a month. Not trying to hyjack, just seemed oddly relatable in a backwards way.
