No diesel is coming, No diesels for the United States in general from Toyota due to future emissions . forget about diesels from Toyota at this point.

All I know about Toyota and Diesels is that there's some "talks" with Cummins about a possible powertrain in the next generation Tundra (though I doubt that will mean the next gen Sequoia will have one; but it might be possible.) As far as I know, these "talks" have yet to be substantiated or have produced anything viable at the moment; but it's pretty much the only way Toyota will get a diesel into the US in an affordable manner to meet US diesel regulations.

What he said ^^

Multiple sources have noted these are slightly more than "talks"

Well, this has been an informative & humorous thread. very good.

I would throw a url up of the location of the rumors, but I would probably only be ridiculed more... not sure if I can take any more of that. :) googling sequoia diesel 2016 would most likely turn up some info, who knows if it holds weight. I can dream...

Cheers everyone

The 2016 Sequoia information will be out very soon, with no diesel option. However there is some good news ! thats when the threads about the 2017 diesel start.

Toyota has been "considering" a diesel for years now.

If it were to happen, it'd be in one of their American made trucks and would probably be a US sourced mill.

With that said the asinine government emissions standards would probably mean Toyota might have to kill/crossoverize more of their BOF vehicles for something that may or may not sell.

If you haven't noticed, they've more or less beaten down how many V8's they have.

a bird from the dealership just told me that the tundra may be getting a diesel, but the sequoia is staying the exact same from '15-'16.

bummah
