Is that an ECT PWR button I see!!! ^
I just listened to the Live Chat, and they really didn't cover any interesting questions. I really want to hear more about the new V6.
From my understanding, the current vehicles using "Atkinson" engines, aren't true Atkinson engines, but
I wounder if it uses the "Atkinson" full time, or only during low load situations, and switches to the standard Otto cycle during high load situations, like the Lexus 8AR-FTS.
They keep saying "All New" and don't have Power/MPG info released for it so I am ASSuming it is a completely new engine. I wounder if it is an actual truck engine, and not something they will use across other platforms, like CUVs *gasp*
Reliability will also be something that will be interesting to follow. Would a super complex NA engine be more or less reliable then a diesel...
Speaking of diesels, Toyota's engineer talked about how they didn't want to explore the diesel option because of the cost of R&D (Except they already have a perfect diesel engine for the Tacoma), and the additional $3k-4$ of Exhaust After-treatments they would have to put in place. That piece does make since to me. But after hearing what he says about diesel engines in the Tacoma, pretty much closes the door for us seeing diesel in a US Truck platform in the foreseeable future.

modified Otto cycle engine in which the intake valve is held open longer than normal to allow a reverse flow of intake air into the intake manifold.
