2016 Taco

Charging pad will be mint and looks like push button start might be standard? In my FR-S it came in a package so there was still the original key hole with a blanking plate but I don't see that...Anyone have a clue what the button between the aux/usb port and power outlet is, kinda looks like a light but not really??

LOL at the ECT power button. I owned a 91 Camry that had that! Seriously Toyota, its 2016 is there not a way around it?? Maybe if I mash the gas pedal into the carpet, it's because I want it to be in power mode ;)

At this point, the only thing that would make it better is if TRD or URD develop a supercharger for it.

The ECT power button must be a joke. As for that button with that symbol, I dunno, I'm stumped as to what that is. At first I thought it was for a light (bed).

That's the button to turn on or off the Qi wireless charger. Matches the official symbol.

Cool, thanks for the clarification. Hope the aftermarket starts to push these. Those of us with 4th gen know the cupholders are worthless, I'd love to fit one of these in!

I'd bet the push button start is Limited trim only.

Limited trims usually get all the goodies. Toyota ALWAYS does that, unless it's competitors have this feature standard, which I doubt.

Ironically I find that when it comes to the 5th gen 4runner exterior, I am a big fan of the Trail Trim and not a fan of the Limited Trim. Now it seems that its exactly the opposite for the 3rd Gen Tacoma. I like the Limited wheels and trim and am not a fan of the black wheels and plastic fenders on the off road trim. We'll see but im curious to see a picture of the SR5 and Sport trims in the Tacoma.

The interior of the truck looks nice. I like that its body did not grow in size but I wish they had done at least some updates to the exterior cab. Seems a lot like a refresh. I am definitely going to go test drive one when they make it onto the lots. The Tacoma has always been a great truck and i'd love to own another one.

all those apple fans are gonna be pissed, the Qi charger will be pointless.

on my S5, I don't know what I would do w/o my wireless charger.

that new charging port is a pita to use a cable to charge.

Oh HELL no. The 2016 Tacoma may not be a looker, but at least it isn't straight-up ugly.

Who at Toyota is coming up with these front end designs?

I'm thinking, since Toyota and Subaru had a quick fling going on there for a few, that may have added a little bit of an influence to the mix.

I'm not an engineer and there's obviously more to it than what I present here, but the big difference in my opinion between the Atkinson designed and the Otto designed engines are:

Atkinson - intake/compression/power/exhaust strokes occur in a single turn of the crankshaft.

Otto - intake/compression stroke occur in one rotation of the crankshaft - power/exhaust strokes require another rotation of the crankshaft.

As per Wikipedia.

I've seen talk on the WEB about a combination of these two approaches. Makes me wonder if the VCM(variable cylinder management) used by Honda would be employed to any degree in Toyota's 3.5 engine. I'll forego my concerns about that for the time being.

the only thing people haven't brought up why Toyota went this route with otto cycle with some Atkinson cycle.....

to skip the problem with cylinder deactivation.

I think this is why Toyota went this way to save gas overall than the headache the usa brands have with cylinder deactivation and/or stop and go.

Cylinder deactivation has been a big issue for Honda. For sure.

And annoyingly, to get a Limited you'll probably need to get the sunroof, which sucks due to my headroom issues.

yeah i wasn't to thrilled i had to get one on my limited 4runner even though i never use it.

same with the Tacoma, the warden wont open it cause it will mess up her hair.

but to get the other must have features i have to get a limited since they only come on the limited, just like my 4runner.

I'm not that tall (5' 9"), so the height isn't a big issue with me. But I hardly ever use my sunroof and I almost always have the cover closed. So I'd rather not have it at all -- just extra weight, complexity, and cost. One more thing to break.

Really? I've only heard of burning oil, but that's about it. I'm actually looking at an (new) Accord V6 for when my Civic is retired.

On the current Pilot and Ody, VCM has been criticized for noises and vibration. I am not aware of any mechanical issue.

The new engine in the MDX and newer RLX etc. supposedly has quell these noises and vibrations. My MDX is near silent.

The Honda problem occurs in the late model Pilots.

6 cyl engine. 2 of the cyls deactivate at a certain point. All is still OK. Then a 3rd cyl drops off by design. Vehicle now running on 1/2 of its cyls. The technology is referred to as VCM - variable cyl mgt.

When the Pilots 3rd cyl drops out the vehicle is prone to very noticeable vibration.

Honda's response is basically that the vehicle is behaving according to design. I actually feel sorry for the dealers as this is not something simple like replacing a rubber hose that bursts.

In the beginning dealers were rebalancing tires repeatedly.

I was seriously considering one until I started googling Pilot problems and discovered this.
