2016 Toyota Fortuner: This Is Finally It [w/Video]

What you think? Next 4Runner or Lexus GX?

looks like a lexus to me, not a 4runner. maybe it will replace the sequoia since it has a 3rd row.

From what you could get peeks of...the thing did have a solid rear axle, appeared to still be body-on-frame, all are true 4WD...and it didnt look like a FULL size to me, more mid size plus...


so, it wouldnt surprise me if it were very similar to what a new T4R would end up being...

they have already shown that the GX is turning into a cross-over called the TX in the US market so...IF they build it that is.

as always, we will have to stay tuned.

Did anybody else catch this:

While under normal circumstances the Toyota Fortuner is two-wheel drive, by rotating a dial the model becomes a permanent four-wheel-drive vehicle, with both high or low range settings. The Fortuner’s off-road capabilities are further enhanced by a rear differential lock with the componentry placed within the differential housing for greater off-road protection.

If by "Permanent four wheel drive" they mean it has a center diff then this would be similar to the "unicorn" 2009 TE which had both multi-mode 4wd AND a center diff lock.

Would be nice if we got it here but since the Fortuner is derived from the HiLux I doubt that will happen. I have to say I like the styling better than the 5th gen T4R.

That Fortuner is not equivilant to the the 4Runner. Unless the new Hilux is built on the same frame as the new Tacoma.

I think it looks nice, appears to have good ground clearance and the turbodiesel engine look interesting. I wouldnt kick it out of bed.

God i hate Toyota for not offering this rig (regardless of powertrain) in the U.S.

It's pretty damn ugly! Really hope the 6th gen 4runner doesn't look like this at all!! Here's to praying!!
