2016 Trail ABS- Wheels Locking Up

Toy Stomper

Every time I slam on the brakes in wet or dry conditions a front tire (normally the right) locks up for a second before the ABS kicks in. Sometimes this can really jerk the car which ABS was designed to prevent.

I took it into the dealer and they said this was normal. I've driven a lot different cars with ABS and I have never experience this before.
Is this Normal?

I purchased vehicle new in April and have over 10K on it.

Thanks for the help!

Not sure if entirely related, but on a 2015 SR5 I had the following happen to me on normal dry road and aggressive breaking. The ABS kicked in for a split second and then with the pedal still down - the ABS system released the brakes all together!

That can be a little scary. I heard Tacoma's had an abs recall maybe this is related or maybe not. I'll have to do some more research.

yea, its counterintuitive to my control because I know what distance I have to brake with and makes me feel like im losing control and person behind me can rearend me
