Can anybody tell me the weight of the 2014-2016 trail wheels? I've found the limited and TRD pro weights but nothing on the trail. Want to do the math on replacing wheels and tires to know the effect of additional weight. Thanks

If I recall, the wheel weight is 31.25 lbs for the Trail wheel.

SR5 Weight is 29.6lbs found here

Since the TE wheels are the same diameter and only 0.5" wider than the SR5 wheels, and assuming they are made of exactly the same material, I would venture a guess that they are around 32lbs.

As far as what the additional weight would do I would recommend reading up on Unsprung Mass. Less is typically better.

EDIT: Going to an A/T tire from factory equipped H/T tires (depending on the tires of course) would probably increase the unsprung mass more than changing to 0.5" wider wheels.

Thank you! Yes unsprung weight is what I'm looking to minimize. Im thinking of the TRD pro wheels, which I belive are 27 lbs or the FN TRD lookalike which is 23 lbs. This will allow a 275 tire, and minimize the increase in unsprung weight, hopefully maintaining driveability and most of the mpgs. 285's would be nice, but I believe I will really notice the additional height on the hills, and the extra 1/2" of ground clearance isn't worth it, imho. I may be wrong, and the 275vs 285 difference may not be significant.

I'm mulling over the exact same thing as you right now. I'm almost certainly going with BFGs and FN F(x) Pro or Trail wheels when I make the switch. The BFGs will be E load tires, definitely increasing weight and harshness. I'm still undecided between 275 vs 285. The devil on one shoulder says "go big or go home" and the angel on the other says "save gas and help mother earth." I think price may be the deciding factor since 275s are significantly cheaper.

scs wheels are pretty light

I emailed method (was curious last year) and they said their roost wheel in 17" tips the scales at 25.2 lbs...

Resurrecting this topic as I have weighed my 2017 Off-road Premium's wheels since I just replaced them with SCS Ray 10's. If the weight on the 2014-2016 Trail was indeed over 40 lbs as some posts in this topic said, the 2017's lost some weight.

Bathroom scale = 28.8

Scale I use to weigh backpacks with 28.7.

I didn't take the balancing weights off so it may be slightly lighter than that. Not bad actually for stock wheels.
