2017 4runner - Headlight condensation?

Hello,

My headlights dont necessarily have condensation, however there are water marks inside the lenses that are forming. It looks like water drip marks, again its on the interior of the lenses.

However, ive never seen the headlights have condensation... Kind of hard to take pictures but was curious if anyone else has noticed this?
This is on both my headlights, so cant really tell if its a isolated issue.

I know exactly what you're talking about about and I have the same thing. Noticed it a few months ago. I switched to HID's but not sure if that had any effect with sealing. The o-rings fit nice and tight. Doesn't sound like it, assuming you're using stock lights.
I'll see if I can't get a photo tomorrow.
It's never bothered me but I sometimes wondered why. I could be completely wrong but maybe it's some type of oil coating to help with condensation? Probably not but just a thought.
 
I have the same thing (issue?) on my 15 trail headlights. The strange this is that it is much more obvious/prevalent on the driver side vs. the passenger side. Plan to have the dealer look at it at some point before warranty is up but it is bad enough to make a trip just for that.
 
same issue on driver side.... only happends on cold days, possibly due to hid conversion. no time to bother with the dealer...... will wait till it dries out in the summer and try siliconing the hid gromet. interested to hear others experience.......
 
I have this same issue. I have HID conversion from Xenon Depot and plan to seal the grommet with silicone this summer. Also, add some silica gel packs to help absorb any future condensation. Should fix the issue.
 
And this is why I haven't replaced my headlights with the XenonDepot kit yet (kit is sitting on the table).

Knowing my luck, if this happened to me with the kit installed, Toyota would void the warranty for the headlights.

Just buy two extra dust covers, as that's the only thing you're modifying. If it happens, pull the system, and replace the covers.

Not exactly the most honest of moves, but whatever.
 
this has nothing to do with the warranty, its the seals in the light covers that go and let in the moisture. its quite common and takes about 30 minutes for the dealer to fix
 
Same issue with me

I have HIDs installed and it would get condensation every time it rained, snowed or when the weather changed.

I air it ou and use a hair dryer to get it as dry as possible.

I basically sealed the HID grommet on the plastic cap

What did you use to seal the grommet on the dust shield?

I think this is a bad headlight design to put on aftermarket HID. My other 2 vehicles also with HID installed don't have the condensation even though the rubber o rings are questionable looking.

I’ve had my HIDs installed for a year with no condensation. I used silicone around the rubber grommet and have never had a leak/condensation.

I just used some silicone sealant

Mine looks exactly like this. LED conversion with perfect gasket and electrical tape over gasket on socket cover. There's no way that's letting moisture in.

Not sure what to do. Toyota would probably consider warranty void due to headlight conversion.
 
I did the silicone sealant in the inner part of the dust cover and electrical tape in the outer part. The moisture remain unsolved but temporarily gone, I know it will come back next winter. I have it in the driver side only, the passenger side headlight is ok so I guess moisture gets in from somewhere not just the back cover as both have HIDs (of course)

I already bought a pair of original Toyota dust covers so I can put it back to stock, and claim replacement under warranty I believe I have 5 years due the the extended warranty on my truck.
 
This would drive me nuts! I have separated, retrofitted and re-sealed my lights and they are completely fog free thankfully.

The million dollar question is, are the guys with condensation parking their trucks not in a garage??
