I've often wondered... do you crawl INTO the tire to remove it or do you use a REALLY long extension on those?![]()
Call me insecure but I'd rather have a "cheap Tacoma 4-banger"...
... They should have built the exact same truck with lots of manly bits designed into it.
Call me insecure but I'd rather have a "cheap Tacoma 4-banger"...
"can it even pass a Pinto?" Well yes actually. There's this thing called 'gearing'... And when it's matched to the tires a strange thing happens, original(or better)performance is restored. "No use for it by anyone"... Uh yea, guys who like to actually push the limits of off roading would take this in a heartbeat Mr. Minivan.
It's not built for mileage. It can be daily driven. Gearing can restore performance and mileage. How does it create additional maintenance costs? And 4-bangers never been Toyotas strong point? Yeah the 22re is a real pos...
Safer in what respect? I'd like to see overlap tests compared to a 2016 Tacoma or 4Runner before I'd make claims like that. I don't see how it's significantly better than a Tacoma or 4Runner in adverse weather. Without real world MPG to go by, efficient is unproven; based on the Gen 1's numbers it's less efficient. Practical is also subjective as we have gone back and forth on this the entire thread.
Without solid data your claims are circumstantial at best; not saying the claims can't be true, but trying to pass them off as fact without data is just wishful thinking bordering on trolling at this point.
Also, do you own a 4Runner out of genuine curiosity?
Dude I'm not doggin out the Ridgeline at all. For it's intended purpose I think it's a superior design. You called Tacomas cheap... Having recently bought a used one I can tell u first hand they ain't cheap. The black Tacoma is SAS'd with huge brakes and no CVs. The track is wider, more stable, safer. Don't get me wrong, I like Hondas. I owned a 98 accord with 230K miles when it got t-boned. It was a great car. If u could only have one vehicle I can see where the Ridgeline would make a good compromise. With the settlement I got for the Honda I went out n bought a Tacoma and a Corolla. More cargo carrying capacity and better fuel economy for WAY less $$$.
Do you disagree with this: Ridgeline is SAFER, better on-road, better in bad weather, way more efficient, and more practical than your Taco. Is it as good off-road? Of course not.
...The 4runner has slightly better frontal crash test scores. As above, i feel that the 4runner has better brakes...or more easily modulated brakes....
BUT in 2004, you said the 4runner was safe choice! GOT YOU THAI! HAHAHAHAHA! Quotes of of context for the win!
Just messing with ya)
Unibody trucks make no sense at all. They are totally weak, and nobody should buy them. The ridgeline makes me laugh...HA! That is that sound of Thai's powerful and commanding laugh.
The ridgeline is an awful truck. Once I saw the ridgeline literally steal candy from a baby, and then store it in the in-bed trunk....the trunk was completely full of stolen baby candy!
Tacomas are the best, especially ones with 4 cylinders and giant tires. And I mean GIANT tires. They are more gentle, and I saw one help an old woman cross the street the other day....then it stopped a bank robbery and nursed an abandoned puppy to health, at the same time!
All ridgelines must be crushed! RAAAAR!
I not only founded this forum....I invented...THE INTERNET!
And what about this fictitious...I mean completely true post you made a few years ago that was not made up or altered in any way?)
....I've been locked in my apartment due to the snow storm for too long....(le sigh).
Ok, lets talk facts. Tacoma is similar to 4runner platform...at least the front end. Have you seen IIHS rating on 4runner (2015; after facelift)? Small overlap was NOT pretty.

Ridgeline is based on MDX/Pilot platform that was introduced in 2014 and uses the latest ACE-II structural design for 360 degree protection. MDX and Pilot passed all IIHS tests with flying colors, including super strong roof strength.

Can you see the difference? :eyebrows:
Weather? It is FWD-biased AWD with true rear torque vectoring. What does Tacoma have? RWD with part-time 4WD. Who do you think will be better in foul weather?? Where is most weight located in a truck? Seriously?! :dizzy: You want to argue about that?!
You're telling me that the Ridgeline will get worst MPGs than V6 Tacoma with BOF and auto (18/23)? What is there to debate even if we're talking about theory?!
Do i own 4runner? I used to. 2002 4runner Limited 4wd. I, along with Gatorgreg, created this forum because of owning it. Anything else you need to know?:noidea: You think that i am a troll?! Look at my join date dude!

There are some deceiving images in the first post. The impact point in the video is only a few inches (~10) inboard (much different than what is shown in the topview image just below) The key is that the frame horns are completely missed.. and the test has been modified to maximize damage on a body on frame vehicle. The stock aluminum bumper wings would just fold up in this scenario. An aftermarket plate bumper setup would completely change that equation. Not sure if it would be better or worse, but I'm guessing it would deflect the vehicle putting it into a spin.
