Stock- 17.3mpg.Long time lurker here, about to buy a TRD OR this May and I can't help but notice that in all of the fuel economy threads it seems like no one ever takes into account the tire diameter if they have upped to larger OD like 285/70/17's. That will through off your odometer just like it does your speedometer and make the mileage look worse than it actually is.
I know this can't be used as complete science but just to give an example... my current rig is a 2005 Tundra double cab with 285/70/17 which are a good amount taller than the OEM tires that came on the SR5. Its a larger percentage taller than the OEM TRD OR 4Runner going from 265/70 to 285/70. I think my OEM tires were 265/65/17 (shorter than 4runner). In any case, if I compare GPS to my odometer, my odometer is close to 20% off. So when the math shows I am getting 13.6 mpg, I am actually getting more like 16.3 mpg.
Am I missing something completely obvious or is this something that it seems everyone is not thinking about when taking into account larger tires?
Can't wait until everything is on it, 12.3 in the future. Never been so excited for less mpg. Haha
