2019 TRD Pro's

4Runner: Big FOX shocks and new paint. TRD roof rack available.

Tacoma has available snorkel for desert driving (cleaner air when high up), not for water crossing. No idea about rear brakes.

All TRD PRO models have become big FOX shocks and new paint.

I hope it’s a new blue (voodoo blue) not just renaming cavalry blue?

Thats it for the 4runner. Basically fox shocks and a roof rack. Blah. So is it 2020 or 2021 for a redesign? The sales are great, but lots of competition and many frustrated with lack of updates. At least the powertrain, which I wanted updated, is reliable. Oh well..

I would actually argue there is little to no competition, what other BOF midsize SUV can you purchase right now? The Jeep Wrangler is in my mind not really direct competition, in size it slots in directly below 4Runner.

I really didn't see any massive changes coming prior to the redesign, and the changes they did make are nice and more substantive than I would have thought. They could have done MY 19 Exclusive color and that would be it, and no one would have really batted an eye. My fingers are crossed that they target MY 2020 for the redesign.

No Safety Sense in 2019 for the 4Runner.

Someone previously said that 4runner has too old design/technology to incorporate the new stuff. BUT, the Land Cruiser has had it for past 2 years and that thing came out BEFORE the current 4runner.

That roof rack is hideous, good lord. It almost looks like they just plucked it off the FJ Cruiser and slapped it onto the 4Runner.

Minor updates on the 2019 4Runner TRD Pro. So all the speculations on a 6th gen for 2019 are proven false...

Just got back from the auto show. Spoke to the toyota guys and they said the fox shocks on the 4runner are a really nice improvement, and really the only other addition is the roof rack. Now I said "listen its so dated (but reliable) when will the redesign come out? 2020? 2021? It definitely will be the new tgna frame correct?" He would only confirm redesign is coming but cant comment on future even though he would like to. When I mentioned no led headlight, same old powertrain etc.., he almost seemed apologetic, but did remind me of the proven designs reliability. Im still going to wait for the re-design.

Also JBL Premium Audio which is nice. I tested the 2018 TRD Pro sound system when I drove it and it is crap (even compared the stock JBL system in my '06 SportED before I upgraded it). So at least upgraded audio is nice. According to press release, 2019 TRD Tundra and Taco also get the full complement of safety sense but not 4runner (although seems consensus is most people prefer no safety sense on 4runner). I was really hoping for sunroof but apparently no dice. I also want to see the 2019 Blue and how it is different or not from 2018 limited blue.

LoL....maybe they had a ton of old stock when they discontinued the FJ. I HATED that rack on my 08 FJ. No real usable space on the damn thing.

It definitely follows the idea of "kaizen". Maybe they found old stock in a warehouse and decided to slap them onto the 4Runner.

Whatever they did was the absolute minimum investment which is great for Six Sigma/Kaizen/Hitting your metrics, etc, but man it does not look right sitting on the top of a 4Runner.

FJ's had both, here is swath that shows sample of what it might look like...

I actually re-watched the TRDPro press conf by Toyota this AM and caught the clip of the Voodoo Blue 2019 4runner they put on the screen briefly. Here it is...

Personally I prefer the 2018 CB to Voodoo

Rolling the dice!

An we all knew it was going to be in a few years. At least I did. We will see then if the redesign even has a frame. :repuke:
