2020 4R GPS map updated itself?

Got a 2020 4R with the new 8" screen and new Toyota GPS that is supposed to update over the truck with Toyota's internet system.

I work in an industrial area and happened to glance at the map after parking at work yesterday and noticed a LOT more lines than normal. After making sure I still had the map at the same settings, I saw that every parking lot in our area is now mapped. I zoomed in on my work area to the lowest elevation possible and discovered that my building was on the map too!

Anybody else see this? The map number has not changed and the button that says to update map still will not let me update the map.

Wondering if anybody else has noticed this?

I haven't noticed any updates on my 4R nav system - still seems to be missing new residential areas and road projects completed in the past year or so...

My map version has never changed since our 4R left the factory 05-69-50 (2019-04-0), but interesting what you say about it automatically updating things... I will keep watching ours in hopes that the same thing occurs, but I'm not optimistic since Canada doesn't seem to get much from Toyota over-the-air...

If I recall correctly, you get three years of map updates included with the 2020 nav system. The system can update the maps over the air using its own data connection (DCM).
