2020 4runner new head unit after 4 months

Hi

So one of my 2020 4runner trd off-road editions started to disconnect from the satellite when using the GPS.

The other 2020 4R TRDOR i have does not disconnect at all..

I drove both trucks on the same roads a few minutes a part and the white one couldnt connect....took pictures of the same road and same exact locations with both the hood and gps( with no signals in the pictures) so the techs would know which car it was.

I tried calibrating it through the settings multiple times and it didnt work. I would restart the headunit by holding the power down for 10 seconds sometimes it worked, other times it did not.


Took it to the dealer 2 weeks ago, and they recalibrated it and it was okay. But it started to disconnect again...

Took it to the dealer today and they said they would order a new head unit under warranty. Didnt have to hassle them.

Anyone else having this problem??

I don't want to be way off base here and waste anyones time but I've heard that the appleplay can cause weird functionality and reboots on the new unit. I forgot where I read this though. The fix was like unpairing the phone, reinstalling appleplay on the phone or something

No time wasted, and appreciate it... ive heard that too but two things

1) I have an android phone, and i dont use andriod auto perse, rather i just use the bluetooth feature to connect to music if that makes sense.

2) my other one hasnt had this problem.... yet and i use it the same way... though the one i m having the issue with is my daily driver.

Will keep posted when they send and install the NEW head unit...
But who knows if that will fix it... could be the connection anywhere between the headunit and the fin antenna???

Just hope it is the head unit and not the fin antenna, its wiring or its connection... Dont want them ripping the entire interior just to diagnose it.

No issues for me in 3 months and about 4K miles. Sorry to hear you’re having issues.
