2020 4Runner TRD Off-Road Premium

Just my .02 and you guys can take it for what it's worth as I know opinions are subjective regardless if you've experienced driving all of these rigs. I started in 2016 with a 15' Trail with KDSS, sold it six months ago for a 16' Quicksand PRO and just returned from a two-week road trip in my sister's 19' MGM Limited 4x4.

#1 The Limited interior comforts trump them all and the XREAS suspension gives it an amazing ride. My only gripes are it's too chromed out and no 4x4 options like the TRDs.

#2 KDSS (TRDOR) provides far superior control in cornering over non-KDSS equipped ones. The limited is a close second because the XREAS

#3 I love the PRO if you get the special color but I'm not completely sold on it's highest price point comparably to both the Limited and Off-Road.

Summary: If I had the option of buying a 2020, I'd get the TRDOR Premium with KDSS, moonroof and no sliding rear deck

I have a 2016 TEP with KDSS... Very tempting on trading it for the pro, but only for the army green color. Toyota gets you with those limited colors.

Please convince me not to trade it in. :grouphug:

2020 ORP here. If there’s a remote connect using the Toyota App or other method, heck if I can find it. Doesn’t look like it’s equipped. My Toyota app still says I have 100 miles and a full tank, no longer accurate. That’s all the info I can see

Im really thinking not all come equipped. But hope im wrong. I did the service set up on the toyota app, but remote connect isnt on there for me. Just safety connect, Wi-Fi. Called dealership for help, they said they dont see it on the build sheet. So I must not have it..

If you've looked in the Toyota app then maybe its not included for USA models or at least where you are. Canada only one version of SR5 one ver of TRD Off Road. Only option for Off Road comes with no sliding tray, + moon roof + kdss + dual climate + toyota connect. It's also pretty hard to negotiate on price up here compared to what I read you guys getting in States.

Thanks...I'll call Monday. Had no luck with their 1800 number Saturday or even emailing. 1st experience with toyota and pretty underwhelmed and buyers remorse currently.

Oh, thought itd be cool to use Alexa too. Since the toyota site does claim this model comes equipped w the capability. Yet it wont connect to that either. And the app doesn't even list 4runner as being capable in the list.

Cleaned the chrome, above, and below it with rubbing alcohol first. Then used painters tape and paper to mask off a decent area around it all. That prep took the most time. I did 5 coats, each was two quick passes on each side of the Toyota logo. If you’ve never used plastidip before (I had not), I recommend to watch a few videos on plastidip tips before you start. It’s very easy to apply and clean up. The hard part is masking it off.

Yeah the halogens are terrible. I came from great quality OEM HID headlights and I want them back. I’ll be ordering an HID kit next month when they go on sale for Black Friday

HUGE difference having the KDSS vs not. Way more body roll on hard cornering without it. I honestly regret selling my 15' Trail for the PRO but I do love the Quicksand color, leather and the Bilstein suspension rides surprisingly really nice. Army with KDSS would be the winner if it was an option

I can confirm that my 2020 Off Road has it I set it up today.
You need to get the toyota app for your phone (not entune, its called toyota app). Sign up. Link it to your car with the VIN. Get an PIN emailed to you and put it on that app with the red icon in the infotainment. I got a year free of remote connect - you use it to start the car through the power of satellites.

I think in the US, remote connect is only available on Limited/Pro models. I think the hardware is loaded on US TRDORP models, but not activated. I also have a 2020 TRDORP that I love...but now wondering what it would have been like to to buy in Canada to get the auto climate/remote connect

I still need to make a few minor adjustments, but otherwise it's literally a night and day difference from the halogen bulbs.

Yep, stock size BFGs. I was originally thinking about doing the leveling kit also but I really like the way it sits already.

Thanks! I think it looks great. Unlike a lot of people I actually like having rake. That way when you actually use the vehicle loaded it sits well. I have been into lifting a few of my vehicles. My Tundra really needed it due to the size and length but its only 2 inches with 1 size up tires. But I have a friend who teaches driving skills at Overland and also to Navy Seals, Special Ops, etc. After witnessing some driving on some stock 4runners I was pretty amazed at what they can do. Enjoy the ride!

This seems to be correct. I emailed Toyota and got the response that based on my VIN the vehicle is not equipped with the "Entune App Suite" and not compatible with Remote Connect. Annoying as hell since the Remote Connect app is in the Apps suite but not able to be activated.

I agree that the brochure and web page imply Remote Connect would be available on all trims or at least don't specify it's on specific ones.
