2020 head unit replacement question

Mine looks just fine. This headunit sucks though but it's from my Tacoma.

this looks nice. does the rouind rotary volume knob work? that is one of the things i hate about some of the new stereos. they don't have round volume knobs.

I wish. Trying to get that working, along with the buttons, would require too deep of electrical wiring knowledge that I do not possess. I was able to get some orange LED's to light up behind the buttons though so it looks like stock at night, but that's about it. When I first put it in, I would try to adjust the volume with the knob but am better about not touching it now lol
 
Why even spend the money on the 2020? That's pretty much the only selling point over the 2019's.

Could have saved a few thousand dollars if you're going to swap out the head unit.

i'm on the fence about purchasing this T9. looks promising and has round rotary volume knob.

Look nice. I rather have non functioning buttons than that ugly look from all of the empty space of aftermarket dash kits.

And if they're using an amp, they're finding an amp compatible with the car, not the other way around.

I have a 2020 and I'm replacing my head unit. It's buggy and the Android Auto implementation is terrible.
 
NOt to hijack the thread at all, but my question is somewhat related.

Any way to hook a CD player to the 2020 unit? I’m a bit of an audiophile and still prefer CDs in many cases. I was thrilled when I heard they were introducing a new entertainment system into the car for this model year, but discouraged to also hear that they sacrificed the CD player in order to do so.

Maybe a 6-disk changer somewhere?

This is possible, I did it on a Pathfinder in '96. Give me some time and I'll find The basic parts.

Haha yeah, I hear ya. Truth be told, I could take all my CDs and rip them into lossless digital, but you have to have a place to store them. My phone definitely doesn’t have the spare memory, and the car doesn’t have an integrated hard drive (AFAIK).

Most of the streaming platforms don’t really cut it (Spotify, pandora, YouTube red, amazon music, etc.).

I could live without the CDs, but if there’s a way to make something work that would be awesome.
