2021 Limited Liftgate no response and Door lock switch problem

Hello! Have a 2021 4Runner Limited. Today, 2 issues came up and I am lost on how to properly diagnose & fix it.

1. Liftgate / Trunk door not unlocking - First issue I found today. So far, I have tried unlocking via: Keyfob; Lock/Unlock Button on the Liftgate door; Passenger side Lock/Unlock Switch (due to issue #2). No response. Liftgate does not unlock. But all the other 4 doors can unlock. I also noticed that when I press the unlock/lock on keyfob or inside the car, I can hear the mechanism of lock/unlocking on the 4 doors BUT nothing on the liftgate (hope that made sense). Last week, the liftgate was ok - i was able to open it.

2. Driver's Side Lock/Unlock Switch - Second issue I found when I was diagnosing Issue #1. When I press the lock or unlock, nothing happens. The Passenger side Lock/Unlock switch is working. Driver side door can still be unlock or lock using Keyfob or Passenger switch. Anything else I should check?

Note: Car is all stock. Have that smart keyfob. No aftermarket remote starter/alarm.

try to open from the inside remove the small plastic access panel on the lower hatch trim, then push or slide the manual latch lever. If you can open it up, grease the locking mechanism. I had an issue where it would open periodically and greased it, seems to have helped. These are known to fail on the 5th gen.

It sounds like your driver/passenger doors may have an issue with the motor. This should help you with that replacement process.

As for the rear hatch, I'd take the cargo kick panel off (really easy) and expose the internals to see what happens with locking/unlocking attempts are made.

The electric lock actuators in the liftgate fail. There are cheap CKO versions, but I had those quickly fail. I resorted to Toyota OEM as a replacement and that one is working perfectly.

The liftgate suffer from water intrusion past the seal across the bottom of the window. This will eventually take out the lock actuator and the regulator subassembly. Neither are hard to replace, at least for me.
