2021 Oem Led headlights/fogs installed into 2018 T4R

Finally got time to post my photos. I did this a few weeks ago. I purchased them from Alex aka “Nommpop” on this forum. He works at a shop in CO where they install Morimoto Led headlights + fogs on brand new 2021 4 Runners with less than 100 miles.

I did this conversion because I am coming from some high quality aftermarket led bulbs for the lowbeams and fogs. The lowbeams did not shine out worth a crap. The drop in led bulbs for the fogs were super bright and shined out nicely but were blinding incoming cars with the enormous glare. I also tried Hids in the low beams and fogs prior. I was blinding incoming traffic with the HIDs and the hids in fogs got super hot and I was worried that the plastic lens would melt.



The headlights already comes with plug n play harness into the pre-2021 4 Runners. The 2021 led fogs plugs right into the fog harness as well. Fits perfect into the pre-2021 bumpers as well.

So these first set of photos, I took photos of the 2018 headlights vs the 2021. Same for the fogs....

I have left the height adjustment alone for now as i normally trust the adjustment made from Toyota. I will look at them later to make sure they aren’t blinding incoming traffic.

I also did some under bumper, chassis, front core support cleaning. I can’t stand when my car is dirty. Even when you can’t see it. Lol

It’s copper plated engine stuff. I don’t think anybody wants to see my cheesy engine bay. Lol

As far as the headlights, it looks like all trims are the same other than the 2021 limited and TRD pro.

The headlights mine are off of is a 2021 that isn’t a limited or Trd pro as those have a bi-led setup with the highbeams being led as well.

I had to reuse my old high beam led bulbs on this.

I have a 2018 trd off road prem.

Yes sir if you get it from Alex on here. He swapped the plugs from the 2018 onto the 2021 headlights so it would be plug n play.

I finally got to drive at night. OMG!!! Holy cow! This is what I been waiting for!!!
They shine out so much further and brighter than any drop in led bulb kit or even 55w hids.

There is no comparison with drop in led bulbs vs these. For the people saying it’s not much difference, well they are wrong!!

I can actually see what’s ahead of me now with no weird pattern or blind spots.

Only thing is the weird small squares everybody is seeing.

100% worth slapping these in.

I checked out incoming glare and etc and it was little to minimal from the project glare which I see on most projector leds from the factory. I am just for that I am not blinding incoming traffic anymore with my fogs.

The factory alignment of the headlights out of the box is almost spot on. The driver’s side is slightly higher than the passenger’s side headlight which is normal because you don’t want to blind incoming traffic.

It doesn’t need to be raised any higher. If anything, they need to be aimed slightly lower on the passenger’s side. For now, I won’t be messing with the height of them.

Thanks, I am not sure, but this is from the Toyota parts website. It’s very confusing because I am looking up 2021 4 Runner and it lists halogen fogs and headlights as well.
I assume the more expensive ones are the led fogs and headlights. I would call to confirm.
But according to this, the 2021 led fogs are not that expensive as maybe $134 for each. They throw pretty good output as well.

I think your second shot is a bit misleading since you have your fog lights on adding that additional side coverage. I can't see how a currently available commercial single LED projector could put out more than an HID powered projector but will take your word for it. Most OEM LED projector applications that perform well use multiple projectors to get the job done.

I am comparing my old drop in 55w hids into our Oem halogen projectors that weren’t made for hids which produced weird beam patterns and blinding incoming traffic even with it aimed down. It had massive glare. Let’s all be honest, putting hids in a headlight not made for it is a no-no.

These are redesigned Oem Toyota led projectors that comes from Toyota........

But yes, in my opinion, these are superior to drop hids into our halogen headlights. I am sorry if the hid lovers get salty but that’s just my opinion.
