2021 Oem Led headlights/fogs installed into 2018 T4R

I am comparing my old drop in 55w hids into our Oem halogen projectors that weren’t made for hids which produced weird beam patterns and blinding incoming traffic even with it aimed down. It had massive glare. Let’s all be honest, putting hids in a headlight not made for it is a no-no.

These are redesigned Oem Toyota led projectors that comes from Toyota........

But yes, in my opinion, these are superior to drop hids into our halogen headlights. I am sorry if the hid lovers get salty but that’s just my opinion.

As someone who has done proper HID retrofits in the past with specific HID projectors, clear lenses and modified reflector bowls im not going to argue that dropping in HID bulbs in halogen projectors is ideal. I also have a set of OEM adaptive LED headlights in my other vehicle and they are absolutely fantastic. So I'm far from an HID fanboi.

What I'm saying is that Toyota's execution with these headlights is almost laughable. Shoe horning a single LED projector in the existing housing isn't going to net good performance. The light output shots we've seen thus far are proof of that.

I think your second shot is a bit misleading since you have your fog lights on adding that additional side coverage. I can't see how a currently available commercial single LED projector could put out more than an HID powered projector but will take your word for it. Most OEM LED projector applications that perform well use multiple projectors to get the job done.

If I’m reading his posts correctly, he has the fogs on in every shot, including the last one showing the output from inside the vehicle.

Thanks for posting this. I have a 2020 Pro and did the xenon depot HID low and LED high in the factory housing. Certainly an improvement in visibility from the stock halogen but leaves something to be desired. I would ideally want the 2021 LED low and keep my XD LED high in the reflector housing as you did. I just need to find out the exact connector needed for the 2021 headlights to the pre-2021 harness to complete the retrofit.

Do you know if Alex has done any TRD Pro headlight swaps? Just wondering if high and low beam would be plug and play without an adapter.

I have not, I do not think I can swap morimotos into a bi-led equipped truck

search local market places for a set of OEM head lights, pin swap is simple and there is DIY in another forum on it. I've seen a pair of head lights at $250 and a member here bought them

tip: mark off the current headlights cutoff points from about 20-25ft first. Once the LED ones are installed go off those cutoff points for adjusting.

Yes, that is a good reference to have. I was also going to match the aim to our new ‘23
