My 2022 offroad has had a progressively weakening key fob function. Had no problems until i started doing my mods, so its likely something i have added or messed up as i did the work.
The driver side unlocks when you touch handle as expected. the passenger side i have to take my key out of my pocket it and put it right on top of the handle for it to unlock
Sometimes i get in the truck and dash display says check key battery and contact dealer for service. It eventually finds the key and starts.
rear entry also requires me to take it out of my pocket and put right against the rear hatch
unlocking from a distance also has been an issue. Remote unlock and lock only works within about 5 feet of the vehicle.
I brought it to the dealer and they won't try and diagnose it until i remove all of my modifications to the truck, which is not going to happen.
They say that something i have added is likely interfering with the rf signals
Mods i have added that might be interfering?

I relocated the backup camera from rear hatch to the cbi rear swing out tire carrier

motorola ma1 - Bluetooth phone transmitter that lets my phone connect to android auto wirelessly via usb plugin.
unlikely mods:
rock rails, skid plates
3" lift and i am 5'7" so maybe the height change is an issue? are these sensors direction vertically?
Things in cargo area that may be an issue:
iceco fridge always running off lithium battery
Large plastic tub full of gear.
Also its hot as hades in texas right now, so maybe as things get warmer something is no longer making a good connection.
I relocated the backup camera from the rear hatch to the tire carrier in the back. I ran a bunch of wiring from engine bay to the rear cargo area on passenger side wire chase.
both fobs have same behavior
fresh battery has no impact
dealer gave me a new keyfob and its the same as well.
If anyone has any insight on how this wireless fob system works, components, diagrams, etc, the assistance will be greatly appreciated as it looks like i am going to have to diagnose this on my own.
I wish this rf based fob system was more robust.
I will next likely start disconnecting what i can (and leave in place) one thing at a time and see if anything changes.
Dont' know how else to trouble shoot this issue.
In the end its not that big of deal to me, just annoying.
