Just not a fan of 20's on a 4R or of the machined accent on the wheels, they're too "blingy". But that's the beauty of the 4r, the ability to make them unique and just how you want them.

I like Louisiana as a fellow southerner, but can't abide by 20s.
17s look pretty right, and even smaller would still look right, but they just don't clear the brakes.
My opinion is anyone w/ 20s is just chicken to go play offroad. Do they even make K02s in a 20" w/ a profile that fits the 4runner? lol
Edit: Doesn't really matter what anyone else thinks, though. If you like it, cool. That said, you compromise performance with 20s.. not to mention most aftermarket wheel brands probably don't have OEM strength, so you'd be more likely to bend them offroad... so there is a safety factor issue.

Man, I wish I could run a 16" wheel. Totally opposite of the big wheel thing. Maybe because I actually use my runner for off-roading. I need that sidewall baby.

I don't have any intentions of doing any "Serious" off roading at all. Which is why I went with a slightly aggressive A/T. If mine were a 4WD and I intended to go more off road than muddy fields, I would likely have gone with 17s and a different style tire. To each his own and that's the best part of these vehicles. They can be made to fit just about any style that you could want.

I don't know what happened to this forum in the last year or so, but this driving off the highway into a field 10 feet is not off roading.

I personally think 17s are a good compromise... allows for larger diameter rotors and calipers. Coming from the fullsize GM world (specifically pre 2005s that allowed 16" wheels) I always found myself upgrading to the 05+ rotors and calipers for more stopping power.

You are getting what you want, and they will do what you want. That's what I call the perfect mod. Doesn't matter what other people think.
My issue is with people who want to pretend they are doing something for some grand reason, when really it's about the looks. I don't know why some people can't admit it though. I've spent plenty of money on dumb shit that I think will make my cars/trucks look better...sometimes they make them look worse!
I hope you enjoy the hell out of your t4r and get plenty of good info here.

It's called the 5th Gen crowd watched too many Expedition Overland shows and now everyone is an "overlander". It's prolific down here in Colorado these days, even Subaru's have RTT's now. :bolt:

If you’re using your Limited as a “luxury vehicle,” fine. If you’re not, 20s are not only impractical but look ridiculous on the 4R

I’ve had both. Went from 20s (Fuel wheels with 295/55/20 Toyo open country tires) to 17s (FN FX Pro wheels with 265/70/17 BFG KO2 tires). I like them both. I miss all the “dude, those wheels are awesome” comments I used to get when I had the 20s. First photo is the 20s. Second photo is the 17s.
