Weak stream, dude. Not sure it happens 'suddenly' as you age, but I get that at some point you might notice.
For some reason this look has become popular around here on on newer behemoth F350s with blingy suspension lifted 24" or more. These trucks are always clean, their suspension shiny, and often have a good foot or two of wheel well and a reverse rake. Probably coal-rollers, as well.
I don't get it, but if you like the look, make it yours.

Haha. A pic of my runner ride, how did you know. Also a pic of my off road rides. If I wanted a real weekend warrior I would have bought a LC.

Why anyone mention 18"? I think it's a pretty good compromise. Less tire choices available but very good tire to wheel ratio in my opinion.

I think mine borders on dumb looking. When these 265s wear out I’m replacing them with 285s. I went with 265s because I didn’t want the baggage that comes with the 275 and 285 KO2s (i.e., only came in E load). Now that the 285 KO2s come in C load, I’m going to get those.

20s are not intended for off-roading. Never does less tire and more wheel make sense if you’re out there.
I’m one of the many who laugh and are amazed that companies make ATs and MTs in 20” offerings. They don’t belong on Jeeps and they definitely don’t belong on the 4Runner.

Agree. Trying to trade my 2017 Limited 20 wheels/tires for a set of 17s on my local CL...not bites so far.
Same mentality here too. I hate the 20's on the 4runner. Been looking for a great deal and found some brand new trail wheel takeoffs for $300! I think I could flip the limited ones for more than that.

20's are for people that refer to wheels as "rims".
But for real, I don't think I've seen a set of 20's that look good on a 4Runner.

I think we'd better get used to 20's. They are the future of truck tires. It's an example of the "rule of the intolerant minority". All trucks can fit 20" wheels. Some trucks can only fit 20" wheels. As a result nearly all truck tires will end up being a size that can fit on all trucks, even if 95% of trucks could use 17" wheels/tires and would prefer them.
20's are fine for 99% of the trails that 4runners go on. So are P rated tires. The 4runner is still a highway oriented vehicle. It's not a rock crawler. There are very few trails the 4runner is capable of that it would make a meaningful difference to have 17 or 20" wheels. Would 20's be your first choice for offroad wheels? No. But it doesn't make a huge difference. And very few 4runner owners do anything close to the limits of performance offroad where a 17 would outperform a 20.
There are also lot more taller narrowish tire options for both 18 and 20" wheels than 17's. Not sure why, but they just don't make tall narrow 17's. They basically cap out at 34" height before going to flotation size tires. With 20's you have the option of tires like 295/65/20. They're 36" tall and only 11.5 wide. Nothing like that for a 17" wheel. That's probably my next tire size. Would I prefer a 17" version? yep. But given what's out there, 20's are going to replace 17's because all the trucks are coming with bigger and bigger brakes.

I generally agree with you but even on some non-extreme FS roads I've encountered large enough sharp rocks that would **** up a 20" wheel with a smaller sidewall. Maybe not performance-related but still kind of helpful for those of us that aren't trying to rock crawl but still end up in rockslide debris fields. Some of the rocks I encountered were big enough to smack a 17" even though it was just puttering around the National Forest like a neeeeewb.
But yeah, on the larger full size trucks, the 20s don't even look that big these days.
