I have an 86 T4R with the 22RE engine. I live about 25 miles from Boston and was recently driving down when my buddy pointed out that the temp gauge was riding pretty high. It wasn't quite to the top, but pretty close. Once I got to Boston, I popped the hood to check on everything, and there was coolant pissing out of my lower radiator line, where it conects to the block. I thought that it might have to do with an excesive amount of pressure in the radiator, but there was nothing in the overflow tank nor anything coming out the side of the cap. I checked all of my overflow lines and they are all clear. I am lost. I dont want to have to go out and buy a new radiator, there are much better things that I could do with 125 bucks. Any input is greatly apreciated. Sam

I bought the truck about 3 months ago and have not messed with any of the hoses or the coolant. The hoses look new, as the person whom I bought the truck from worked at my local NAPA. The radiator cap is the same deal. Looks new. but I am not sure. I suppose that I will drain all of the coolant and flush the system next.

I had a 22R-E in a 1985 toyota celica gt-s convertible( a rare).
And it overheat a few times.. I suggest that you change the top, lower and heatter hoses and don't forget the thermostat.
my mistake was changing one by one as they go and every time one of the hose goes the car overheated.

I would call the guy you bought it from 3 months ago and findout when/if he changed the Rad cap, antifreeze, hoses, water pump. I would also ask when he changed the other fluids. After you know what and when he did to your ride you will be able to fix the problem without throwing money at it hoping to find whats wrong. Good luck.
