? 245/75-16 instead of 265/75-16

My old Cherokee has a set of General Grabber AT2 245/75-16 tires which I love mounted on Wrangler Rubicon wheels. The tires maybe have 3-4K miles on them. I'm basically retiring the jeep so the tires will get used or sold... The Rubicon wheels also.. My question is for some of you guys that may have played around with tires more than me.. My stock suspension 1997 T4R has 265/75-16's that are close to needing replaced.. I understand that 265/70-16 was actually the original equipment size tire...

The AT2's I have look great as far as I'm concerned with a nice capable AT look. The price was excellent at Treadepot..They ride great.. Are not noisy.. And do great in the rain.. I have not done any off roading with them or snow/ice..

The AT2's I have are not much smaller... The Rubicon wheels are 16x8 and pretty sure the T4R's are 16x7.. Not sure how much that will effect things..

Looking up the specs my AT2's are about 1.2" shorter than the 265/75-16's and about .75 narrower...

My AT2's are only 0.2" shorter than the OE 265/70-16's and about 0.5" narrower..

Bottom line... Are the 245/75-16's going to look small on the T4R???

No, I don't think they will look terrible, but definitely a little small. It will save you a good bit of money so I would probably do it if I was you.

265/70/R16's are .1" taller than 245/75/R16's, you wouldnt be able to notice it at all.

The 70 or 75 is the percentage of the earlier number, 245 or 265.

In this case, 75% of 245 is just shy of 70% of 265

So last night I saw on Craigslist that a local auto salvage yard was selling all the parts from a fresh 2000 T4R wreck..
2 of my wheels are a little rough for my taste so I decided to see what theirs looked like and whatever else I might find.. Sometimes the junk yard is like Disney Land for old car guys..... 2 of the wheels were in great condition.. I got them for $50 bucks each... Also ended up with the console with the cup holders for $40 in great cond so looks like I'll be doing that mod asap... Also the two front OE headlights in excellent cond for $60 each... My headlights suck so I hope these help???????
My plan is to have one of my Grabber 245 AT2 tires from the Cherokee mounted on one of the rims I picked up today.. Then I will decide if I think it will pass.. Strange enough the new salvage yard wheels I bought today both had on 265/70-16 AT2 Grabber tires with about 40% tread.. Measuring those against my 245/70's came up so close that I think it will be fine...
